Toshiba laptop turns off after "hard" video activity

Hi!
I own a Toshiba Satellite and a thing I saw is that the internal fan goes faster when it's using more the video , like in
a GBA emulator or DiVX Player or when I'm opening more windows in FireFox and when the browser window has an animated GIF....and past some time the computer turns off

what could be happening ?

cpu is overheating?? get a laptop cooler that the laptop sits on which has fans on it to cool the laptop down.
