Is there any software than can capture a quick clip out of a dvd..i tried the trial version of wind dvd 7 platinum but it only captures a gif file and it plays back slow (unlike a real gif file).

let's try this method with an array of free programs:

Use DVD Shrink in reathor mode and use the edit start/end feature to capture the clip that you want.
Guide here:
http://www.dvdshrink.info/reauthor_intermediate.php
(skip to the part about using the edit start/end feature)

Download:http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_...

Then use an ecoder like autoGK or DVDx 2.3 to convert that to an AVI file.

DVDx 2.3 Download:

AutoGK Download:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/auto...

If you want to encode your files to DivX then you'll have to download that codec separately.
Here:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Codec-Packs-Video-C...

While there is a newer version of the DivX codec available, it is not free for encoding purposes, only playing.

Good luck and let us know if you have any more questions.

Edit:
Just stumbled on another method of doing this as well....

Not downing Adobe Premiere, but my way is completely freeware and doesn't cost a penny and still produces great results.
