Well, you cant get games or movies off the net without torrents, but the linux (open source) download i got was here if you want to try it out to see your speed,

http://mirror.linux.duke.edu/pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/iso/

also from my past post i had a typo, not 75 KB/s but only 45 KB/s. :(

mikey,

First open up BitComet and select the option to turn your files into a torrent. then download WinRAR and break your file up into 14.3 mb pieces. Then go to a torrent site such as http://thepiratebay.org, login, and then press upload, and wait till its done. remember you will have to continue seeding until other people take over the responsibility.

hello dvdback23 (",)

i was wondering if you can help me as i have got a problem, i download a DVD-R folder, which has been zipped, i used WinRAR to extract the files, there are no *.VOB or *.bup file's, the only file is *.img, i suspect that this is an imange file, i have tried using Nero, but Nero does not support the file.

can you shed any light in the matter?

cheers

compliments of larrylj,

" Also when you go to open the file in Nero you can pull the menu type option arrow down and select it to list all files instead of suported files. Once you do that choose the .IMG file and Nero will load it up (recognize it) even tho it dosent list it as a suported file."

then burn as you would a normal image file.

Enjoy!

DVDBACK23,

Thanks for your post. i've followed everything in your step by step guide and still no improvement. here are the results from the tweak

tester Actual data bytes sent: 146000
Actual data packets: 100
Max packet sent (MTU): 1500
Max packet recd (MTU): 1500
Retransmitted data packets: 0
sacks you sent: 0
pushed data pkts: 5
data transmit time: 2.943 secs
our max idletime: 435.4 ms
transfer rate: 31560 bytes/sec
transfer rate: 252 kbits/sec
This is not a speed test!
transfer efficiency: 100%

it also says "ICMP (ping) check Target unpingable "
I'm using a motorola sb5100 modem, netgear Rp614, azerus (getting green smiley faces), no firewall, norton disable and i'm forwarding to my ip the data from the port 16882.

This is really doing my head in cause i can download big files off websites really quickly. Bittorrent seems really slow. thanks for help DVDBack23

You need to do the test to put your advertised speed into the speed test.

Well, looks like youre OK with the tweak test and you have a pretty fast connection so on highly seeded torrents you should be getting 180 KB/s.

Which ports have you forwarded in your router?

Is your firewall allowing full access?

How many seeds and peers are therE?

DVDBack23,

Hey i'm forwarging port 16882 - 16883. the best i get is like 20kb/s and this is not often. I unistalled norton and when i go to control panel and select windows firewall is says"due to an unidentified problem, windows cannot display windows firewall settings" also there are 30 seeds 48(10) peers.

btw when i go to setup my router and it brings up the window. i scroll down to the attached devices tab and it has none listed i.e. my computer. Anyway sorry for all thsi bother it's just getting really irritating.
