thought that when u get a green face means its OK?
but have been waiting for hours...last time i used a broadband connection and no problem, file that is 250MB can finish dl in 1 hour if there are lotsa seeders.

now the same situation, just different connection - cable connection.
I read abt port forwarding etc, but when i trying to log into router's IP 192.168.1.1 they prompt for userID & password, which i dunno (even if they say default was blank & admin respectively)

pls help me solve this problem to make my downloads smoother and faster? thx alot

Linksys wireless G WRT54g, but as I mentioned, I have also tried a linksys A/G and a belkin G. My speedtest without Azureus on is usually somewhere betwee 4-8 mbs/sec :). When it is on, it craps to 200k to nothing because I can't connect period.

I am not even using wireless though, I am going in through a port on the router. I'll try disconnecting my wireless access card completely since someone else had suspision that started the problem, but I can't imagine it helping any.

mine cable connection - wireless router is linksys WRT54G V2.2 and the modem is motorola SB5101.

i realli hate this new connections...1stly, aside from getting super slow downloads, my internet connections always cut off sometimes which resulted in my ONLINE GAMING sessions interrupted.

at times like this, how i wish i can get back my broadband ADSL connection, with wires and all :P (it can download 3-5 anime episodes in just a few hours, not DAYS)

You don't know the password for your router? Hold down the reset but for like 5-10 seconds on the back to reset it to the default settings. The re-do it, and this time write down your new password!

And as I have already outlined, exit out of your bittorrent program when you are trying to use the Internet for other stuff. I tried jacking my settings down to nothing on Azureus and that helped for a little while, but over time it still would lag the rest of my Internet out, so now I have the settings jacked to max and just switch off.

i did port forward, etc...and in the end i dunno what i did, i think i screwed it up even further...so i reset the firewall setting, uninstall & install Azureus again, and start again.

the downloads are resuming, but as always...they show me GREEN SMILIES but the downloadsspeed its either in yellow 0/0bps....and the ETA is like 10days10m...or 3d1h...zzzzzzzzzzzz what is happening?! Green are supposedly ok!!!! *going nuts*

OK...I usually am able to help people with Azureus. You say smily means OK, well your correct...Sort of. It means you can connect to the tracker, you have a remote connection, etc. It does NOT however mean that you will be downloading anything at all. For example, let's say you are the only person on a torrent. The smily is green, but you cannot download. What are the stats for the torrent(Seeds, Peers, Swarm Speed, etc.)?

This is info of one of the anime episodei'm currently dwnlading:

the stats for the torrent(Seeds, Peers, Swarm Speed, etc.)?
Seeds : 48 (452)
peers : 30 (340)
DL speed: less than 1kb/s...sometimes turn into 0 b/s( in orange words) and then the ETA would either be smth like 1d5h or the 'infinity' sign.

Im using a wireless cable connection. The previous time i tried to get a static IP, i mess the network system up and i just reset it and leave it for 2 days..

Ok, here is the bittorrent fix for wireless router people and people having access problems in general.

1. First of course is the port forwarding issue. There is plenty of material around about how to do that. In case you missed it, go here. http://www.portforward.com/

2. For Azureus users or any bittorrent programs that support decentralized tracking, this may cause router problems and except for certain situations where it may help accelerate a download, it is best most of the time to disable this and connect through the tracker only. This will help keep the chaos to a more controlled level.

3. You can still overburden Azureus and your Internet if your settings are too jacked and you are trying to do too much at once. This website will walk you through that. http://azureus.aelitis.com/wiki/index.php/OptimiseSpeed

Ok so it?s the end of the line with this stupid project trying to figure out how to get bittorrent to share internet resources with my wireless router. I tried every possible combination, and the bottom line is these fancier programs (Azureus and Bitcomet specifically were tested) for some reason or another kill my router when there are too many things queued up, no matter what I set the speeds and number of connections and number of simultaneous downloads, etc., eventually over enough time it chokes the router. I have a few different theories as to why this is, but the bottom line is that it is. My only option with these programs is basically to have just 1 or maybe 2 things queued up at a time. This is a little stupid because it defeats the purpose of most of the fancy features.

So I researched every torrent program under the sun and have tried the ones that appear to be the cream of the crop. Of these, a little known program called G3 won out. It is much more basic in some ways (one or multiple of these ways being responsible for choking my router). But what it does it does very well and has some very cool detail information. It wins as the most efficient of the 4 programs tested (Azureus, Bitcomet, ABC, and G3) in memory and CPU usage. I ran it all night and this morning I am still getting consistent and good download speeds, and most importantly the router is still handling any other requests I throw at it.

The one bad thing about G3 is that if the tracker is down, you are screwed, whereas Bitcomet and Azureus will decentralize the tracking and dynamically share the hosting with other peers, so as long as there is collectively a full copy available, the tracker becomes unnecessary. So I will have to use one of the other programs for those, but again, just having one thing queued hasn?t been a problem so far.

In my final analysis and recommendations, if it ain?t broke, don?t fix it. But if at some point you are having problems sharing other Internet resources with Azureus, switch to G3, set an appropriate max upload, setup a range of ports on G3 and the router, and save Azureus or Bitcomet for trackerless torrents only. Between Azureus and Bitcomet, they both have their strengths and weaknesses, but overall Azureus seems to have better control and power.
