How do i turn my PC monitor into a tv, just so that i can play my new-coming xbox 360 on it!

What is the thing called and how much is it?

Also, since the xbox 60 has much better graphics that xbox or ps2, will the graphics look worse if i play it on a monitor instead of my tv. (note tv not HD or flat screen)

Thanks

you won't need all that expensive stuff, check this out

The Xbox Guide (known as the dashboard this generation) and Games will all be able to output in 480i, 480p, 720p, or 1080i with the inlcuded composite/component cable. If you are using the optional VGA cable you will be able to output in standard resolutions from 640x480 all the way though 1920x1080.

the optional vga cable is what you will need, and in fact is what I am planning on buying for my 360 it will let you output the 360 as you would with pc games. boom there's your high def monitor solution.

microsoft know's not everyone can afford a HDTV therefore they will release this cable so you can use your current monitor and still retain the awesome next-gen graphic's.

I found the Xbox 360 VGA HDAV Cable on the ebgames site, under accessories, im wondering though, do i plug the VGA cable into my monitor or PC? One monitor i have in my house (LCD monitor) has a vga input right into the back of the monitor, my other one however (which i hope to use) doesn't :( Also, will i be able to use my PC along with the xbox 360 without having to disconnect one, plug the other in? and finally, will the sound run through the Pc or do i need an other output system (Speckers, Stereo, etc.)

Thanks

ok the vga adapter will plug into your vga cable on your monitor and audio can be achieved with your standard rca to headphone jack adapter bought at radio shack and plugged int the input on your speakers or your sound card. as far as running both your pc and 360 at once you will need a vga splitter or just change them out when your done, the best bet would be to get a splitter so you won't have to keep changing plugs. but I will need to do more research to find a cheap suitable one will be back soon.

this one at staples is ok it is 59.99 a little price but does away with the unplugging and replugging of cords

oh oh, the monitor i plan to use, doesn't have a VGA cable input in the monitor... Just some 3 prong cable from the PC. Although, the Pc itself has a input that says serial, but it looks like it could fit a VGA cable.(it has 5 prongs on the bottom and 4 on top) the monitor is a NEC MultiSync FE700 17" Monitor --> http://www.necdisplay.com/products/ProductDetail.cfm?Product=89

is the input that the Vga cable goes into called a "vga input" or what. man i need help :(

on the site it say's it has a 15 pin connector the 360 vga adapter will plug directly into the end of the monitor cable, the 3 prong is the power cable. the 360 vga cable will not plug into the pc! and that port your talking about is a game port or serial port hardly has any use at all.

Cool, so i plug the Vga cable into the monitor cable? That works out great because on the monitor i plan to use it, its attached to the monitor, the only end you can take out is the one that plugs into the Pc.
