I just wanted to put this out there b/c others have had the problem but none found solutions( except for nerd squad).

Here's what I did: Run system restore, then get the latest windows updates, then install card. Easy huh.

I hope this helps someone, I could have used the advice.

Easier than what? Why would you run system restore? I never did that when I installed a new video card.

I always removed the drivers for the card that I had in the computer, rebooted, let Windows find the existing card, shut down the computer, install the new card, boot up, and install drivers for new card. Easy, huh?

& also don't have to reload all your programs affected by the system restore. your way is the drastic version compared to the easy version of GrandpaBW!!

i dont even usually bother removing the old drivers. i just run the setup exe for the new drivers.

only then if i get problems, which i usually dont unless on older cards do i mess about uninstalling any of the drivers

i still dont see the need for a system restore. thats only going to make things more difficult for you.

i'd 2nd that as no need to do a restore unless there is a problem. installing a new card & it's drivers is not the reason for doing a restore!!

Fine. In hindsight maybe I should have tried getting the latest windows updates first. I was trouble shooting on a computer I had just bought about two weeks ago.

And I did remove the old drivers.
