I'm sure this question has been answered before, but I'm a newbee and there are a lot of pages to this forum.

I bought a song from Walmart on-line then tried to play it in a program called VideoWave.

I found out that the file is wm. and the VideoWave program only plays wav. files. I tried to convert the song from wm to wav, but it said that it is licensed protected.

It's frustrating bacause I bought the song to use in the video for the family. It seems like I should be able to play it the way I wish.

Is there anyway to get around this?

Thanks for all help!!

No. The file isn't yours (according to the record companies). You pay to play it when you like (on your PC).

Although you could try recording it back to your harddrive:

Thank you for your reply.

I'm not sure what you mean when you suggest to record it back to my hard drive. Since I downloaded it on-line, it is already in my hard drive. Do you mean I should burn it to a CD then try to put it back in?

I followed your link, but it is still confusing to me.

Thank you for your help. It is appriciated!

ok just do this

go to www.download.com

type in there search window audio record wizard

download install and then run audio record wizard it cost's about 30.00 to register the software and is worth it here is why

audio record wizard records all sound coming to and from your sound card
you install audio record wizard then set the source in the option menu to wav

then open windows media player hit stop right away to avoid your file from playing

then select record from the audio record wizard window then give it a file name (example: booger) then hit save then hit play really fast on windows media player

and audio record wizard will record the song into a non protected mp3 file format

thats it
