Hi, I've been a long time user of bittorrent, but recently I bought a new laptop and the download speed is sooooooo sloooow. albeit the computer company is a no name, it still came with a 48kbs download speed. Right now the firewall is off, and Norton anti virus is on. My NAT settings are ok... says the NAT test in Azureus. So I get the green faces and all... but the download speed never exceeds 5kb/s and even drops to 7b/s!!!! WHY?!? I read on the Azureus site that it was best to configure your max upload speed to 80% of your computer speed (so approx 35kb in my case.)so i did that but still nothing. i have the green faces, i download recent torrents, my nat settings are good... how do fix this?? your help would be MUCH appreciated. thanks in advance ;)

btw...
i have a speedstream 6520 modem from bell sympatico.
also, i'm using a laptop but its not on wireless. i never really understood this whole port forwarding business but i figure i dont need to do it since i have green faces, and also because i'm using just the modem.
so i just need to know... how to get.... max... download... speed.... i'm dying here.

hi
im having the exact same problem with the same modem. if anyone could help it would be great.

im getting only 20kbs... i had a modem from them before and i was getting about 250kbs and now that i upgraded my system to a 5mg line i get nothing.

i tried it wireless and also plugged directly into my modem.

my firewall is ALWAYS turned off and i don't have anything else running. no anti-virus thing or other firewall or anything.

i've tested port 6881 and it says that its OK! when im plugged in.

so whats still wrong?

if you're still having this problem with Azureus, you might wanna switch programs. i was getting reeeeeeeeeal sick of the speed going from 0kb, to 30kb, to 7b every 2 seconds so i switched back to bit tornado. albeit the speed isn't topping out at 100kb+, atleast it's stable now. you should try it...
sometimes it depends on the computer. first time i used bit torrent, i used BitTornado and it worked like a charm. then i switched computers and used Azureus which also worked like a charm while bit tornado was a piece of shit. and now, Azureus is the piece of shit. lol MESSED UP I TELL YOU
good luck. too bad no ones answering us
