i'm familiar with all the typical BSoD's, i've seen them before and such. but now im running on xp and lately, my computer has been crashing... even when im not doing anything on it. it's not really a BSoD, but the screen is blue, it does mean death and i can't do anything.

it looks more like a desktop of some kind bluish. i can still hear mp3's if i'm playing them, i can still hear the audio if i'm watching videos, and from what i can tell, the programs still run in the background of it. i just want to know if there's any way to get around it. it's very annoying...

it does this at least once or twice a day, and its getting quite annoying.

Just go nuts unplugging things on it, while it's turned off, then plug them back in, and turn it on, or what?

i suppose an easier suggestion would be to:

do a system restore...

and if you upgraded to windows xp, backup your data and do a clean install to erase everything and let the installer configure everything for you, then just install your software again...

i works 90% of the time in fixing problems...

i recommend this but it is your decision, maybe use it as a last resort

with the computer turned off & the power cord disconnected from the case as some computers still has power even tho shut down by windows. than reconnect the power & turn on the system to see if still does it. also can use a pencil eraser to remove oxidation off the gold contacts on the ram & videocard.
