I'm sure that this is an old topic , but I am new to this , and would like any suggestions that I can get. I scan a DVD on my scanner and save it as an .Jpeg file. I try and print it with my Epson R300 Printer , but the image is way to small. Can someone tell me in simple english how to resize the image so that it fits on to the templet in Epson's R300 Print CD program? Also I am doing this to try and help out with any uploads that I can provide to cdcovers.cc

thanks.

you need to do that in the scanner program itself when you scan. That way you get the best pictuture to print. If you have a small pic and rezize it then the quility will degraed. Try changing the DPI setting higher when you do the scan. If you dont know how to do that go to the page of your scanner and get help there on thier Faq page.

or you can change your RESOLUTION from 200 to 600! That will make the size big enough and you can set the scanner to sharpen from Medium to High or Extreme! I have the Epson R320 and an HP scanjet 4850! I now make my Taiyo Yuden white inkjet hub printables into indistinguishable copies of the original disk! You can hardly pick out the backup from the original..... I do set my printer to print darker than the original~! I love it!

I agree with the suggestions above. Scan at a higher resolution, and a "larger" size.

I would also add, consider scanning in a different file format. JPEGs (jpg) format is terrific in many instances, but it is most often used for compressing an image, and it does this by "cheating" which will always mean some loss of image quality. It is possible to save a file as a JPG file without using compression, but it sounds as if you do not have a handle on the scanning, so it is possible it is compressing the image, without you knowing it. Can you choose one of the formats that will keep the image "uncompressed," so that you are certain you will not lose quality? I usually scan in the BMP ir TIF formats, if quality is very important. I use .JPG images only if I have to make some graphic fit on a web page without taking forever to load, or if I must make it fit on a floppy disc, for example.

Scan at a higher quality. Avoid compression. Keep the resolution high, and the overall size large. Then, if it needs resizing, you can use almost any graphic program out there to do this, before you even load it into your Epson printing software. I use Photoshop for this, in instances where it is necessary. (Those instances are usually for an image I did not scan myself, where someone else scanned it and did not know what they were doing or chose to change the size as they scanned it). I also use Photoshop to rotate, touch up the image, crop it so it is perfectly centered, and fix any problems (for example, the image might not extend all of the way to the center hub, but I print on center hub printable DVDs, so i fill that space with something). I add any sharpening or color correction effects at this stage. Then, I re-save the image, sized perfectly for the Epson software.

do you know how to stretch your picture to fit the CD image? When you import a picture onto your CD image (which is a round circle with a hole in the middle),in your Epson Print CD program, your picture is there with dots around it..... use your mouse on one of the dots to drag it to the outer rim of the CD image! then do the same for the other sides of your image until it is centered perfectly! Don't expect your scanned picture to be an exact fit to the CD image in the Epson Print CD program to fit exactly until you make it fit! OK! simple enough???
