Searching these forums I see a few people have had problems backing up the Disney title "Spirited Away" without any resolves. Here's what's happening when I attempt to back up this title.
First, Dvd Shrink's first Analyising phase reads at normal Kbs but at only 7 FPS, (normally 150ish). After that's complete, either "Full Disk" or "Reauthor - main movie", "Automatic compression" shows only 87% compression but with slider maxed to the left. At this point the Dvd size meter is still in the red, oversized. The main movie is only 6gb, not to large to be compressed. Switching to manual compression and removing unwanted audio streams makes minimal difference to the 87% compression. In reauthor mode, when I drag the main movie title to the compilation window, Dvd Shrink begins to re-analyze the disc which isn't normal either.
With Dvd Shrink 3.2 not working with this disc I tried to rip the movie to my Hdd using Dvd Decrypter first. In either "File mode" or "ISO mode" dvd decrypter came up with an error that said something like this, "This Disc is not CCS protected but has encrypted files which is strange" "aquire encryption key?" "yes to all".
After that, it decrypts and takes as long as usual but, at every new vob file the log says that error, finds encryption key and continues. When it's done and opened with dvd shrink, basically everything except the main movie is there. It calls some 500mb special feature file the main movie.
Ok, so there's alot of words here. I suppose this problem comes down to an unusual protection. I used DVD43 aswell. If anyone has successfully backed up this title, how? Thanks.
