I recently moved back into the dorms at college and now my bittorrent speeds are slow to non existent never going over 1 kb/s even on popular files. At home my download speeds were fine, what could cause this?

Lethal,

Hes at college. Basically, all colleges block all ports and firewall p2p and torrent connections, (believe me I KNOW), the only way I am able to get good speeds is with a private tracker and VERY HEAVILY seeded torrents (like 300+ seeds and only 20 leechers).

Eg. Here at college i have a 2.2 MB/s connection (yeah, T1) and i still only get 20-40 KB/s normally but with Very heavilly seeded torrents i get 400 KB/s.

I guess if youre school is part of the network you could try i2hub, my school doesnt so i cant tell you how it works but i think it is somewhat like DC++
