old dvd writer doesn't burn

i have a lg 8x dvd writer, i have been burning data, backing up movies, copiyng dvds for two years without a single problem, suddenly a few days back my dvd writer doesnt recognize the blank dvds, i have tried diferents brands of disc: sony, lg, samsung, imation. I use the nero burning 6. when i tried to burn the disc s a message pop up that says " insert a virgen dvd " and i cant burn, i dont know what can be hapening. can it be a software problem o hardware? should i replace my dvd writer for a new one?

If you are using Decrypter go into the Tools tab, drive and the capabilities and post what the make/model and current firmware of your burner is. When was the last time you flashed this drive with updated firmware.

also use a cd/dvd disk cleaner to clean the laser lens of the drive
