EAC+LAME volume question

SO I'm creating mp3s with Exact Audio Copy for ripping cds and LAME for encoding to mp3. I'm encoding at 320kps VBR with the quality set to 8 (out of 9)I've noticed that the volume on my ripps tend to be noticably lower than other peoples mp3s created by similar methods. What am I doing wrong? I've fixed the mp3s later with Mp3Gain, but I would rather do it right from the start.

And yes, it's in stereo not joint stereo
