I have recently downloaded my first movie which was in AVI file format. I am now converting the AVI file to MPEG with TMPGEnc since I am reading this everywhere on the discussion board that it is better. I am not quite sure of why this is better other than it is a smaller file. May someone please address this question... Also, I was wondering if it is safe to run other programs or surf the net while I am converting the files. And lastly, what is the average converting time for a movie? This movie is about 186 mins long and about 690 mb. Please address my concerns. Thanks
