are they from the same spindle of disks or different. if same ink & not replaced than look at the top surface of the disk. try washing a disk with warm water, dish detergent & dry with a soft cloth.

You can only print succesfully on printable discs! I tried printing on regular discs a while ago, the ink would not dry even after a month. It just fades and and remains wet, I had to wash it all off and leave it as a regular disc. Using printable discs I can touch them within minutes and they don't smear.

my m8 got it for me I think they are the ritek full face printable. I heard that once the black ink goes low it won't print onto cd/dvds properly, is that true?

I never heard anything like that. Mine is still new and the original ink cartridges are only a little less than a quarter used up! I have a full set of cartridges ready for use when these go. I'll let you know when my ink gets low!

I think you are talking about two differnt print jobs. It sounds like IHoe is talking about printing "covers" meaning DVD Jacket inserts(?). But it sounds like kwokusho is trying get help to print on the disk itself.

"But everytime I print onto cd/dvds the ink smudges and its still wet"

kwokusho, if you are getting a printed disk that doesn't dry enough to handle pretty quickly, then those are not printable disks you are using. How long do the Epson printer instructions say you should wait before handling the printed disks?

You can't print onto the glossy plastic of non-printable disks. The ink can't settle and absorb and will smear and won't dry properly ever. The printable disks I have seen have a matt-like, non-shiny surface.

EDIT: also I read a post sometime ago that stated that the ink may run off the edges the non-printable disks and muck-up your printer's disk carridge or the priner's insides.

No, I've been very low (less than 5% remaining) and it was still printing just fine. I even ran completely out of yellow once and it still printed but the greens were all blue.

Sounds like you have the wrong discs or a screwed up batch. Try some different inkjet printable dvd's.

Edit: are you sure your discs are inkjet printable and not thermal printable? Thermal printables won't work with an inkjet printer.

I'm not whisperer but I recommend verbatum or taiyo yuden hub printable inkjet media.

I've never printed the artwork onto the disks. I just know what they should look like. I just had to buy some once because the store was out of my regular disks and I said WTF, I can still backup with these right?

Not to put a damper on everyone's enthusiasm but I just label my backups with a suitable marker and use all that disk art time saved for lovemaking! :-)

whisperer...... I wasn't talking about DVD jacket covers........ I buy Taiyo Yuden DVD+R, 8x white inkjet hub printables, 100 count! I have the Epspon Stylus Photo R320 for a week or two and made over a dozen prints on DVDs! They all come out great and you can hardly tell the difference from the original!

Mort.... it works great and I use Adobe Photoshop Elements to touch up my scans and make them beautiful...... Teflon gave me the settings ... if you remember and they work great! I am enjoying my new toy!

As far as saving time for lovemaking...... that's another story and I don't give advise on making love cause like computers everything is different and too many variables! LOL

Also too many virus's!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!

I use the verbatim data life plus +8x. Excellent MCC-003 MID code. If you need some in a hurry,Wal-Mart has the Maxell 8x full hub inkjet printables that are made by hitachi. These perform just like my verbs. Office depot should have both the verbatim and maxell full hubs.

I haven't had any trouble with the ink being too wet.

Is that the original ink cartridges kwokusho?

I get mine at private abacus and the quality looks just like my original epson cartridges.

If you're in the US, Sams Club has Verbatim printable -r's & +r's for $40.- 100. They're not hub printable but $40. for 100 Verbatim DataLife Plus's you ca't beat them. By the way, within 10 seconds of printing on my disks with an R200 Epson, I can rub my finger on them without smearing. I just don't make a habit out of it. :-)

To conserve ink I open the print driver, and sent the quality settings to DRAFT, instead of the default TEXT setting. And on the first page of the driver, I move the slider all the way to -3, (or the Lightest setting on it.) I have not really seen any difference in the print, but it does dry faster, and I get more DVDs out of a set of ink tanks. It may keep them from smearing for you as well.
Worth a shot anyway.
Good luck to you.
