I built a computer about a year ago and
immediatly started having a problem with 3d games
and applications crashing.
I thought it was my video card and it was time to buy a new one anyways
so i did.
That didn't help the problem.

I read somewhere that it might be the fact that I'm
using 2 sticks of generic ram and they might not be compatible.

I ran windiag to test the memory and there was indeed errors
in the ram.

I moved one of the sticks of ram to another slot and ran the
test again and after 24 hours there was not a single error.

Games ran fine but recently the games started to crash again.
when i ran the test on the memory there was a problem
less than 15 mins in.

I guess after that long story I'm just wondering
could the memory have done something to my motherboard,
or would it be a safe bet to just buy better ram
that is compatible with my motherboard?

I guess im just saying i dont want to spend the money and buy new ram
If my motherboard is messed up.

What do you guys think?
Will better, compatible ram solve this dilemma?

take a pencil eraser to the gold contacts on the ram sticks to remove oxidation off them than try the test again.

I will try that.

As a side note i have never heard of that,
is oxidation on the contacts a common problem?

And is there something i can do to prevent future oxidation?

ran into that problem a few times this summer but might no have noticed it when reseating the ram & cards. nothing you can prevent it.

cleaning the contacts didn't help unfortunatly
I'm still getting random crashes and an error in
the windiag ram test

try this program. also try the programs & ram on another computer to see if problem follows or not.
