PLEXTOR PX-740A HELP

just recently replaced my drive for a new Plextor PX-740A. When I want to burn with Shrink or Nero, its not recognizing the drive. I mean all I see is hard drive. I cant find the DVD drive as the "target" to select the destination for the burn. what am i doing wrong? I have Nero updated, I can watch movies on my computer, but this is driving me a little nuts. can anyone help?
