I just purchesed an external HDD enclosure. I put an 8 year old hard drive into it. its a small 20gig'er but I'm hopeing to use it for school, but every 4th or 5th time I disconnect it from my computer it goes courupt and I can no loanger acces the file and it asks me to reformat the Drive. Is there something I can do to recover the files that are on it at little caust or at all. Or even is there a way to prevent this from happening again?

Yes. On the mac system I trash it and wait for the HD to stop responting for a sec or two.
On the PC I Use the USB window to remove device and wait for it to give the OK ...
