they block out all sorts of i.p's -ones that feed spyware/adware/trojans,viruses and the like.
the main use so pg is for p2p applications... they block the i.p's of fake file servers, and major corporations that you could get into trouble with if you download off them.....
they just allow all the ones that don't pose a threat.

Peerguardian is good for viruses and so on, but protection from major companies is not so simple. I do have a feeling that they have quite advanced methods to find out who is uploading/downloading certain files. New IPs are used everyday, so developers of peerguardian are allways few days behind.

Peerguardian Filters out rogue ip connections based on a list that is downloaded and updated everyday similar to an antivirus. As for pg2 showing allowed connections that can be disabled in the options. Another thing to mention is that pg2 is compatible with bluetacks ip lists and they can be added to pg2s list manager and updated everyday.

All the blocked addresses that u see in pg2 could be anything from spyware to hackers or anti p2p corps, all ips in pg2 are labeled so when you see a block google it.

With Torrent files you are allowing hundreds of computers to share the piece of file you are downloading from BT. This is why you are going to allow a lot of IP's to connect to you becuase you are sharing. Peer guardian stops those who should not be connecting to you. Like Companies and the Gov.
