Just let everyone here know i figured out a way to take dvd's that you made using a stand alone dvd recorder to go thru shrink and nero...because i'm sure evryone here knows that a dvd made from a dvd recorder will almost never run thru shrink without give that error message. For people interested in knowing how i did it..just let me know.

See if you would have just posted your solution to this problrm then sirenia could have tried it and let you know if it worked. Instead they have to wait till you reply back to them to find out the steps you do to get around this problem.

So instead of acusing me of being rude why dont you help people out and give a step by step solution to this problem so they can try it themselves.

Ok this is how i did it...1st put the dvd in your dvd burner & let whatever dvd player you use try to play the file then stop it & close it out..next restart your computer..when your computer restarts close out all other programs as you would normally do when burning a dvd...(but be fast in doing it)then open shrink & hit open disc & DVD Shrink will then & only then analyze the entire disc..but do not try to reauthor it at 1st ..just go ahead and copy the whole disc (you can do main movie later)..Nero will encode the disc then after that you can make copies...but the only trick to this is that so far i've noticed that sony DVD+RW will go thru shrink...my fuji dvd-r(TYG02) would get halfway & stop.So thats how i did it..and sorry @ larrylje...i just didnt want to be posting in the wrong forum with this topic.

movies..... you got through a lot of stuff for you program to work....... I never had to reboot and shut down stuff or anything like that.........but you might be wrong about the disks...... TYG02 are Taiyo Yuden disks (first class media)check out link:http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
those Sonys are probably Ricoh (I have spool of 25 Sony DVD+RWs) and those are very good, too, but are second class media! Both should work fine with Shrink. If it doesn't and

then it's the DVD that you are trying to backup and not the media that you are copying it to!

hi

would these discs you made on a standalone recorder have been FINALISED? or left open? as they are dvd-+VR format

if so you can just copy and paste the VIDEO_TS folder to your hard drive then load to shrink!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

but if your home made DVD is a DVD5 then you don't have to use shrink and just use your burning program: like Nero or CopytoDVD and burn it right to another DVD5. for that matter you can copy on the fly with Nero and avoid putting the files on your hard drive! If you have a 2 drive system. Burning on the fly at 4X would only take about 15 mins or less!

I don't recommend burning on the fly when you are trying to backup a movie! I am saying if you want a copy of a copy and you know your copy is fine! Then burning on the fly should work just fine!

@Ihoe ..for my dvd's i use the Ilo stand alone recorder and afterwarrds the dvd's dont play properly on my computerbut they play fine on any stand alone player...as far as fuji goes i know they are top notch thats why i use them but as i said they would stop during the analyzing or either encoding process however the sony would go right thru without a hitch..i just do what works...if you dont have the problem that 99% of everyone else here has talked about then i'm impressed. even in Nero disc copy i couldnt make a copy of a disc i burned off of my stand alone recorder..

Movie.....I still don't believe that the disk you use will determine whether the program works or not! I never heard of such a thing.... but it's possible that your drive works better with one disk than the other cause your drive might need a firmware update! That's all I can figure.

movie........ I read your 2 links........ I found that you were talking more about a certain DVD that couldn't be copied..... an Adult movie DVD..... and now you claim to have solved this mysterious way of recording from a stand alone DVD recorder through Shrink. If all the things you mentioned works for you..... fine! But you didn't unravel anything or come up with anything that 99% of everyone has trouble with! It seems that everyone in those 2 links were trying to help only YOU out! Sure some people have trouble with some DVDs cause of their equipment and it's compatibilities with the media you use! Just cause you use Maxell DVD+Rs, doesn't mean it will be compatable with your stand alone! Where Saugman said:
Quote:
Not as much any more. The compatability of those backups are pretty poor on stand alone players. It's very picky on media, but likes MCC-003 the best.
That was after you asked if he recorded movies from his stand alone recorder! So there's your answer..... everyone (99%) or more were talking about the media and the type of disk and the movie itself! Your links did not mention anything about why shrink or Nero
Quote:
because i'm sure evryone here knows that a dvd made from a dvd recorder will almost never run thru shrink without give that error message.
First of all if you did record a movie onto a DVD5 already why would you put it through Shrink again???? I don't understand? and why can't you use Nero just to make a copy??? You could even make a copy on the fly!!!!! or just use DVDDecrypter!! and even Rotary agrees with me on that:
hi

very true!

use DVD Decrypter on iso read, then iso write = very easy peasy lemon squeezy....
so what did you really find out? You found out a method that works for you! So happy for you!
