I have seen other post on people trying to run thier standalone recorded DVDs threw Shrink or other programs to re-author them and have problems getting them imported to the program they are using.

@movies27 dont be discouraged about the replys you got from others in this thread. At least you gave input to a problem you was having and a solution that you found for your case. Maybe in some way you will help others benifit. This is a learning experience for all and maybe you will even get more knowledge and an easier way to do what you need to do to resolve the problem you are having.

Larry....... Now I feel bad. I asked Movie to give me threads that show that others were having his problem.... he gave me threads that didn't pertain to

He didn't show me that others were having the same problem. I don't have a standalone recorder. I never saw a thread that has this problem. I want to say I am sorry for critizing Movie on a problem that others have, as pointed out by Larry! I've learned something today. And I am the first to say I was wrong for critizing someone else's problem that I knew nothing about. But, I wish Movie would have showed me the CORRECT threads showing this problem! I really wanted to know! I appologize. Sorry!

I am the first one that will admit if I am wrong! This place is well meaning, worthwhile place to learn and expand your knowledge, and share that information with whomever wants it! Who am I to say that one person doesn't have a problem when clearly I was wrong!

LOL I just didnt want him to be discourged to post stuff in the forum. It took a bit of work just to get him to post what he wanted to say. I alos dont have a standalone recorder either but have seen a few threads on people having trouble authoring the disc that the stand alone recorders burn. As of where they are I cant remmber cause I never replyed to them due to not having a stand alone DVD recorder and not having any imput to give. Then i came across his thread and told him if you have a soulution then just post it so others might benifit. Anyway its all good we all have our own opinion.

@Ihoe yea i did post the wrong threads but i have seen many posts where people did have the same problem i did & if they would do what i mentioned it will work,,,i will try my best to find some of the threads since you dont believe me ....& thanks @larrylje...& oh by the way i use maxell dvd-r's not maxell dvd+r's @ IHoe

Well,let me tell you how I do it.My new 99$ DVD recorder "Cyberhome" will record DVD + R/RW.Interesting thing is of course that my PC will reply only hte RW version and it won't recognize the R version.I did all kinds of tricks trying to download the DVD + R home movies but to no avail.So now I just burn everything on RW then I run it through Shrink and that burn it back to DVD + R.I know it's time consuming but cheaper than to buy the expensiver RW discs.

@berghof...yea i agree totally i picked up a 25 pack of Maxell DVD+RW..and every movie i record using my stand-alone recorder goes thru shrink with no problem at all...so the rw discs are the way to go with those stand alone recorders.

I have a panasonic E85 DVR and the only problems i have with it's discs is when i don't finalize the movie as mentioned here, and try to play it in a portable. The finalized DVD5s run thru shrink just like any other program with no hang ups, unless it is bad media, and you are using good media. An older panasonic DVR would put a menu on the movies that some players wouldn't recognize, but shrink re-author mode took care of that.

I haven't heard of the Ilo brand of stand alone, but maybe someone else with that brand has found a better way. What ever works for you is fine, it just sounds like you have to go thru a lot of hassles to get to burning. You are dedicated though. Very few of us would put up with rebooting a computer and going thru all the steps you have listed, just to make a copy. :)
