There is only one 3.3 GB file? What is the extension on the file? Is it rar or nrg, what?

Then burn a DVD-ROM ISO with Nero. It's the first option in Nero Burning ROM under DVD. Make sure you check write and no multi session. Burn at 2x or 4x. What type of DVD-R's are you using?

@Lane1

Have you sucsfully backup any PS2 game yet? or is this the first you are trying?

If you have backed up other disc and they work then it could be possible somone has uploaded a bad torrent that dosent work.

Or as Tokijin said:

Use good media
Burn at a slower speed no faster then 4x

Also I didnt see a reply from you about having a slidetool or fliptop. Make sure you are using the swap magic disc correctly by having a slidetool or fliptop to flop the disc. You can't just put the Swap Disc in load it then hit the eject button on the PS2 flop the disc and have the backup play. Hitting the eject button on the PS2 will reset the system. This is why you need a slidetool or fliptop to avoide the resetting of the PS2.

You will need :

- A fast internet connection.
- A DVD Re-Writer
- High Quality DVDs! Eg. Verbatim, Tuiyo Yuden, TDK, etc.
- Image Burning Software
- Sufficient HardDrive Space.

I don't use modchips myself. Can someone else please post a link to a good modchip store?

Personally, I use Swap Magic. It's a good way to boot backups without opening up your machine.

Take a look! - www.SwapMagic3.com

5. Q. What modchip should I get?
A. Matrix Infinity, DMS 4, or if money is an issue, the Duo2SE.

26. Q. I'm in the market for a modchip or premodded console. What are some reputable sites I can order from?
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/251223
In addition http://www.modchip.com is supposed to reputable as well as http://www.norcalmods.com Get a pro to do it unless you're an experienced solderer. I paid a $100 for mine all told ($50 for chip+$35 for installtion+$15 for shipping). Teammodders.com did mine. I got a Matrix Infinity. Once you get a chip you won't go back to disk swapping or owning an unmodded console ever again. Swap Magic is an excellent product at a reasonable price. I recommended it to my friend who was short on dinero, and he loves it.

7. Q. What do I need to use Swap Magic?
A. With fat PS2 v.1-11: Flip top: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/fliptop/page1.cfm
Slide Card: http://www.saveware.com/SlideCardUsageAndInstall.htm
With Slim PS2 v.12-14
Flip top: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/fliptop-v12/pag...
Magickeys (also referred to as slide tool, slim tool or, magic switch): http://magickeys.net/
or tape and tissue mod: From Pretense: If the fliptop doesn't work, just give up on it and do a tape and tissue mod. Open up your case again and tape the back sensor (toward the upper left and beneath the hinge part of the lid) with duct tape or even regular Scotch tape (I use several layers to be on the safe side), put the case back together, and stuff a small ball of tissue into the hole for the front sensor (lower right just above the power button).

47. Q. Should I get Swap Magic or a modchip to play PS2 backups/imports?
A. Depends. Swap Magic is inexpensive and works well. It isn't compatible with DVD-9 games. For games above 4.38GB's you may have to rebuild the iso or do a TOC refresh to boot it. This is a small percentage of games, around 5%. In general Swap Magic 3.6 is an excellent product. After rebuilding there isn't a single game which Swap Magic won't boot. A good modchip is the ultimate upgrade. It'll play PSX/PS2/DVD/CD backups/imports automatically. It's compatible with DVD-9 games, makes your PS2 a region free player, supports multi disc games, and you'll never have to rebuild a game or shrink a DVD-9 to DVD-5. The conversation about good modchips begins and ends with the DMS 4 and the Matrix Infinity. They both do everything I mentioned above. For that functionality you would have to spend $100 to $110 for a professional install. It's expensive but you'd be able to play anything the PS2 is capable of reading. If you get a modchip make sure you use one of the reputable installers posted above.

There are several sites you can order from. I don't know exactly since you're in Australia. I ordered my slide card from http://www.gocybershop.ca http://www.modchip.com is also reliable. Search on google for some places that ship down under.

Looks like you might've went one step too far. When you extracted it the first time, did you get an iso file?

If it didn't give a iso file, you can just drag-and-drop these files in Nero Burning Rom and burn it. Be sure that you replace the dummy files before you burn it.

This link will help you replace the dummies: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/258626

The link in the last post will help with the dummy files. As far as burning, you should burn all of the files (data, system, slus, etc) that you got from the extraction.

If it's not in the form of a disc image, you'll probably to re-build. Search for a guide on re-building.

@catare

It sounds like the big file your getting after running the WinRAR and extracting it is a BIN file.

You can burn this file by using Nero by choosing to burn "image file" start smart burning options.

or

you can use DVD Decrypter by choosing MODE/ISO/WRITE and choose the DragonQuest 8 BIN file that was extracted as the sourch to burn.

There is no need to extract the BIN file after you run WinRAR. Use the file WinRAR gives to burn it is an IMAGE file.

dragon quest is not a bin image, its an iso
besides 3 gb would be the biggest bin image in the whole world, and probably impossible to produce.... :)
