ok i DVD Decrypted the game using ISO Read, and in the folder i got a 3.15 gig iso file. but theres also a 5kb mds file(dvd image). when i copy this to a dvd, do i even need to transfer that small file along with the 3.15 gig iso file? and if so do i need to transfer the small file into an iso file?

Also does every file you put onto a dvd for a moded ps2 to read the disc "right" need to be in an iso format?
Thanks

The media you're using isn't anything special. Use high quality media eg - Verbatim, Tuiyo Yuden, TDK, Sony, Ritek etc.

Thanks for the info Larryjle and Jamaal. I agree with Mik3h, get some better media. Burn the MDS file millatime. Just go to MODE-->ISO-->WRITE and click the open file button. Browse to the MDS file, double click it and hit Decrypt. That's it.

Hi Guys and Girls. I have a small problem. First of all i'm a noob in burnig Ps2 games, keep this in mind. ;o)

I have some games with an output file "ISO and MDS". So my question is, do i have to burn the mds or the iso file? Is there a difference, cause i burned already 1 Game with just the ISO file but my ps2 has no mod chip at the moment so i can't test it.

Anyone knows if it works with just the "iso" file burned?

who can help me

ok. still confused. i have 2 files. the iso 3.15 gig, and the small 5kb MDS file. do i need to burn the MDS file to the dvd? and if i do, i dont have to transfer it to an ISO format just the MDS format is fine or not?. then if i do burn both files to the dvd, can i do it at once. if not which file do i burn first. sorry a little confusing but i think i almost have it. thanks

also i just bought a DUO 2 SE chip. is this fine? has anyone had problems with it?
thanks again.

The Duo 2SE is a good chip. It's compatible with the v.1-10 PS2 as far as I know. Make sure you have a v.1-10 PS2. It direct boots games, supports multi disk games, and DVD-9 games, not a bad chip at all. I'd rank it behind the Matrix Infinity, DMS 4, and the Crystal Chip. Of course I'm partial to the Matrix since mine works great. :D Just load the MDS file into DVD Decrypter. It contains info that tells your PC how to burn the iso file. It does burn the iso file, you just load the mds file into DVD Decrypter.

23. Q. What version is my PS2?
A. http://mod-chip.com/en/ps2version.htm

72. Q. I'm considering getting a modbo, apple chip, or a magic chip, which should I get?
A. Avoid the modbos at all costs. Get the Magic Duo2SE. It's one of the only budget chips that is actually quite reliable. It direct boots everything, supports DVD-9 games, and has multi disk support. An excellent value at around $20, if you can solder it yourself. If you pay a pro, it'll set you back around $70. (20$ for chip, $35, for install, $15 for shipping).

ok but what im saying is if i need the MDS file on the DVD with the ISO file. my friend said that the MDS file is just so your ps2 will read the game but if you have a mod chip then you dont even need the MDS file, you just need the ISO file. Now if hes wrong and you do burn the MDS to the dvd, which file do i burn first.

Lol, Ignore your friend. The MDS is not needed but it is helpful. Just do what I said, browse, double click the MDS, then put in a high quality DVD, and write at a very slow speed. (1x)

I just want to say if your gonna mod a ps2 by yourself and have never done it before, practice with some old circuit boards. Or you'll probably ruin your ps2. Also the best ps2 modchip seems to be dms4 which i have the pro but i recomend getting the dms4 lite if you have a slimline ps2 like i had my pro installed to and it had problems when it heated up so i switched the chip to my v9 ps2. Definitelly get and ohm meter with a short check that beeps and a tip tinner it great. IT WILL SAVE YOUR PS2,xbox cube etc.....oh and try a cube or box first there a pice of cake

just wanted to save someones ps2.

ok, and then when i put the MDS file on the dvd it will automatically burn the iso file on too or will i have to go back after and burn the iso file again.
also this will be my first time puttin in a mod chip. i have a solder but it doesnt have a fine point. i dont really wanna go to the store and get a better one becuase i dont wanna spend the money or waste the time but if its worth it, should i do that, or my dad recommended on taking 2 small pieces of cardboard on each side of the solder so it doesnt leak out.
what are some other things i could do or is buying a new solder the best? and are there any tips on how to solder becuase the place i bought my mod chip said nothing about coming with a manuel so ill probably just get the chip with my order. ive look online but i can only find pictures on how to do it. so if theres anything im missing can u let me know.
thanks

yea, unzip (or unrar) the first one and it'll give you an ISO file
thats what you use DVD Decrypter for

@ millatime

the MDS file acts in the same way a cue does for a bin image
it doesnt actually burn the MDS file,it just has the information on how to burn the ISO
this can be very important, depending whether you use fat32(limits a single file to 4gb)....
you should never ignor the mds file if you have one, although its not impossible to burn without it.
but if its there,use it

most downloads will give you just an iso, anyways,so its not something you have to worry about

look at it like this..when you create an image with DVD Decrypter, depending on the set up,decrypter will split the iso into different sectors.(next time check on the app itself, and you will see.(3gb will be shown as 2,..>1.5 gb sectors)

if you use fat32,this is where it becomes more important,as a file over 4gb will be split down
the mds will tell the "PC/BURNER",how to put it back together
