You guys have been great. You guys have answered all of my questions and done it quick too. just wanna say thanks.
i have a question and this should be one of my last.
you guys have obviously moded your ps2's. for the ppl that soldered the chips in, i need your help. i have done research but couldnt find much on the topic so ill just ask you guys.
i dont wanna screw up my ps2, so what are the best soldering instructions and tips? also i have a soldering gun but i heard the guns produce more heat and thats not good for socket boards. it also has a pretty big tip. what did you guys use(what were the size of tips on the solder)and how did you do it.
thanks again.

26. Q. I'm in the market for a modchip or premodded console. What are some reputable sites I can order from?
A. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/251223 In addition modchip.com and norcalmods.com are supposed to be reliable.

40. Q. I have a middle school diploma, a bottle of Jack Daniels, and a soldering iron, should I solder my modchip myself?
A. C'mon. What do you think? Absolutely, unequivocally, definitely, without question, NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Unless you are an experienced solderer, don't go near your motherboard with a 10 foot pole. There's no quicker way to ruin a perfectly good PS2, than with a shot of JD and a soldering iron. Pay a Pro. It'll save you money down the road. http://www.teammodders.com is a good place to start.

MagicKeys is for the slimline PS2. For instructions on using it or thicker PS2 - http://www.allmodchip.com/pages.php?pageid=12

k thanks. so not many people solder theirs themselves?
And why is the DUO 2 SE so much cheaper than the others. Has anyone found games that will not work with the DUO 2 SE or does it work with ever game?

You should only solder it if you're a pro. The Duo2SE is a good chip, it's just not as feature packed as the Matrix Infinity or DMS 4. If your unsure at all, pay a pro to solder it.

Well I guess it depends on the game. Depending on the size of the game, I'd imagine you burn it to CD, or just play it off your HD.

Lane here's a simple solution, try a tape and tissue mod:

tape and tissue mod: From Pretense: If the fliptop doesn't work, just give up on it and do a tape and tissue mod. Open up your case again and tape the back sensor (toward the upper left and beneath the hinge part of the lid) with duct tape or even regular Scotch tape (I use several layers to be on the safe side), put the case back together, and stuff a small ball of tissue into the hole for the front sensor (lower right just above the power button).
Pics (Thanks to PSPness): http://www.geocities.com/pstwoslimline/tapetissue.htm
my tape and more tape
Just about the same, just a change on Censor 'A' and Censor 'B'

Censor B - http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/572/dsc010703xc.jpg
keep the top closed, while you tape down the disk stopper, using a few layers of duct tape

Censor A - http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/4342/dsc010698we.jpg
use tiny strips of duct tape to patch over the tiny censor. I used a screwdriver to help put on the tape.

Rite, im really new to all this burning ps2 games and stuff like that. I have Alcohol 120% and lots of verbatim dvd-r's ready to be burnt. Ive downloaded resident evil 4, the filer are all "...rar", so from what i read if i extract the 1st "..rar" file into another folder, then open up Alcohol 120%, and burn the "..iso's" onto the dvd disk, it should work on my ps2 when im using swap magic v3.6 .

If iv put anything there that doesnt seem rite, please reply and tell me what, because i really wud like to start burning all the ps2 games iv downloaded

I finally finished downloading "resident evil 4", it was all in the "...rar" files, i tried to extract them but because the game was so big it told me how i couldnt extract it to the file because the file size was larger than 4gb, is there anyway of getting round this, or am i just stuck with not being able to extract it so i cant burn it onto a disk???

My friend has his ps2 mod chipped and he has "resident evil 4" for it, can we copy his "resident evil 4" using Alcohol 120%??? and how would i do this???

The reason that you're getting an error with the RAR files is because you drive is setup in FAT32. You would have to change it to NTSC in order for the extraction to work. These links should help you with that: http://www.ntfs.com/quest3.htm
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/co...
http://www.theeldergeek.com/ntfs_or_fat32_file_system.htm

To copy the RE4 disc, use DVD Decrypter: http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/. Go to Mode>Read ISO and when that's done, go to Mode>Write ISO. It's the easiest route to take!

@JOSh765

It sounds like you are trying to Extract the RAR file and that it is saying the file is to large. That is uasly due to you having FAT32 file system on your computer. You need to have NTFS file system on the hard drive to handle the large files.

Below is a guide on how to convert your HDD from Fat32 to NTFS if your using WinXP

Just out curiosity, why would you want to change it back to FAT32??

I've never changed it back, but I'm pretty sure that you can do it the same way that you change it to NTFS. The one problem is that changing it back to FAT32 will more than likely delete everything on that drive.

Once you convert it to NTFS just keep it that way there is no need to convert it back. But id sugest asking 1 of your parents to help you out and make sure its alright to do it first.
