1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter. Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.
2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/240341 If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.
CMC Magnetics is garbage. Need proof (Thanks to Alkohol):
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/262544
3. Q. Do I need some type of mod to play PS2 backups or imports?
A. Yes you need a modchip: http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2 Swap Magic: http://swapmagic3.com/ Memory Card Exploit (Doesn't work with v.11 PS2 and later): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109289 HD Loader: http://www.hdloader.com.au/hardinstall#prepare or

It's because of the media you're using.. you need a better brand of discs.
Personally, I use Verbatim DVD-R 16x discs. But I burn them at 1x. I have not had one coaster yet when using Verbatim discs.

I concur except I burn on 8x Taiyo Yuden's (TYG02) at 4x. Crap media is most likely the problem.

Iv just burnt "Metal Slug 4", i cant help but think that it might have burnt to quickly for it to work.
I converted the BIN file to an ISO file
I went to burn it alcohol 120%
It then came up with how an unsupported file image is being used, i changed it from mode 1 to mode 2
I put the burn speed down to 4x
and changed the data type to playstation 2
The file size is 114mb acording to Alcohol 120%, in all it only took me 4 minutes to burn
Does that seem normal? Is there anything iv done that i shouldnt have?

I was also thinking isnt 114mb a bit small for a ps2 game?

It's just because it's a CD-ROM based game. It's probably a direct port of Sega CD or Neo Geo game or something. Don't worry about it if it works okay.

Try P2P networks.
Personally, I use BitTorrent which is a method of distributing files quite quickly by breaking the files up into tiny pieces for quick transfer then re-building them after completion.
I reccomend you take a look.
You can get a BitTorrent client here (BitLord) - http://www.bitlord.com And you can find torrent files - http://www.mininova.org
Bearing in mind that you need to have a fast internet connection, a DVD burner, and high quality media for a good successful download and burn, and remember you need your PS2 modded to play them.
May I also suggest you download/use PeerGuardian 2 for protection whilst downloading/surfing the net - http://www.phoenixlabs.org/pg2/

I would sugest anyone that is starting to download torrents to use a client like (azureus, uTorrent, Bit Tornado etc etc)
Stay away from BitLord and BitComet due to alot of the trackers banning them from thier torrent sites. I am a member of 5 private trackers and they all have BitLord and BitComet banned from the site.

Is there anyway of speeding these up or not?

A router allows multiple internet connections at once. It looks something like this:
As far as the private sites, I'm pretty sure that you have to get invited from somebody at the site. You might want to check the P2P forums for info on private sites: http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/18

All the private trackers that I know of has thier registration closed and you can only sign up threw invite. But if you search maybe you can find a private tracker that might be starting and is farley new or keep trying to check the other private trackers that have closed registartion. Every once in a while they will flush acounts from thier systems and open registration back up.
Some private trackers are
pisexy.org
widbytes.org
torrentleach.org
torrent-lab.net
demeniod.com
@JOSh765
speed of torrents are also determined on a few diffrent things
How many seeders/leechers on the torrent
private trackers are faster then most public trackers
make sure your router settings are conected
make sure you forwrod your ports
set up firewall to let the ports allow information to come and go

@Josh765 I use Azureus to download my PS2 games as well. To see if you have a NAT or firewall error, go to Tools-->NAT/Firewall Test and click test. If you get a NAT error, then you need to open the UDP/TCP ports for Azureus. It's java based, so you need to open the correct ports for javaw.exe. Do you have Cable or DSL?

Cable is through your Cable television company which you transfer over your cable lines.
DSL is highspeed through your Phone company which you transfer over your phone line. (not dial up)
Some even connect through thier Satellite dish.
