gurnard,

I used dvddecrypter to burn a dual layer and it burned sucessfully but it only plays on my computer, not on a standalone dvd player. Do i have to set the booktype and if so , can it be done through dvddecrypter ?
thx

@suraa
Since dl dvd's are newer media your standalone may not like it. Booktyping may help - what's the model of your burner? If your burner supports it you will be able to booktype thru decrypter.
Also make sure you pick the .mds file w/ decrypter to burn.

gurnard,

thx for the quick reply. I have a Sony DRU-720UL. I am using Ritek-D01-01 DL dvd media. When I insert a blank media and open DVDdecrypter, i right click on the burner I get a option to change book type but I do not see any "SONY" drives listed. It has options to change book types on NEC, LITEON, RICOH, SOHO etc.
Any help will be appreciated. Any other tools out there that will change my booktype.

Unfortunately your drive does not support booktyping. Make sure your firmware is up to date also. You could try another brand of dl discs but that's kinda costly.

@ suraag hi :)
sorry to take so long in replying (had to ask a very good AD friend his opinion) here is what he says
your sony is a rebadged LITEON SOHW 1673S so you can select the liteon in the options, here is a link to all you need, to be able to booktype your particular drive
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=83441
and all you need to know regarding booktyping for Liteon rebadged drives (which yours is)

@binkie7 hi :)
didn't really know myself, so asked the king himself, kivorry666 (the doc)
so all credit goes to him
the only reason i knew about the rebadge was because i have 2 burners in my rig and a dvd-rom
1 being a Liteon sohw 1693s and the other a Sony which is a rebadged Liteon
the dvd-rom is a TSST corp TSH352A which is really a Samsung
confuseing or what.
may the burn be with :)

hehe, hi gurnard & binkie, good seeing both of ya~ :)

hehe, yeah, this DOES become confusing with all the rebadged stuff going around lately, but at least w/ Sony...MOST of their older models are ALL rebadged Liteon drives, with the exception of their newest model, the dru-810a which is in fact a Benq 1640 :)

but, the 800a, 720a, 710a (that i personally have), and the 700a are ALL Liteon rebadged drives...i got myself an actual Liteon 1693S that gurnard has too, which in Sony terms is the 800a~ :)

CONFUSING~!! ok...bye bye my friends :)

Yes it does get a bit confusing on who makes what - even the bigger names contract their work out.
