Download a program called RivaTuner, this program can overclock your gfx card however you wont want to start right away, you need to find out what card you have, RivaTuner can tell you this.

RivaTuner: http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/

First you need to find out the core speed and the memory speed b4 you do anything to the card (RivaTuner can tell you), when overclocking you always take a risk of damaging your system if anything goes wrong so if you are not felling sure about it then do not do anything but with the correct setting that should never happen.

Also two things to look for if card is over heating, Choppy performance and "Artifacts" if this happens stop overclocking and reduce the clock frequency right away (buying a better GPU fan will help when OC any gfx card).

When you start overclocking you want to start by increasing it by only a few mhz at a time then test it by using a program such as 3dMark01, if and only if everything is smooth you can continue to increase the frequency till
it you get "Artifacts" which if you do reduce the frequency right away.

I recommend if you have a Nvidia card you download there reg file that adds a overclocking feature to there application thingy, it can detect the best overclocking settings for Nvidia cards.
