OK Pros! I have a simple question for you all. I really never have used the Dual Layers because of the High Cost. However, since I bought those Verbatim DVD+R DLs today at Best Buy , 10 for 20 bucks! I would like to know this: Book Type to DVD-ROM or not? I plan to use Nero Express w/AnyDVD to do an Exact Copy. My Stand Alone Player does not care if they're Book Typed to DVD-ROM or not. Since these are DVD+R, should I Book Type or not? My Burner supports this. I usually DO Book Type the DVD+Rs to DVD-ROM when I use Nero. When Burning Single Layer Discs. I just want to get the BEST possible Quality Burn. Any & All answers are appreciated!

Thanks kivory666! I thought that would be best. But, that's what this Forum is for, if you want to know, ASK. If you DO know, Share! Right? I can't believe I got 10 Verbatim DVD+R DLs for $19.99. Whoa!

So bunnyrip .. If you've never used DVD+R DL before, how do you know your stand alone doesn't care if they're booktyped or not? And I agree with Doc. ALWAYS BOOKTYPE IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY .. You never know what you may want to play that little gem on

catfreak, what I am saying is: I know my Stand Alone likes DVD+Rs whether they're Booktyped or not. No, I haven't tried Dual Layer, but I am pretty sure the same procedure applies to both media because both are DVD+R format.

The reason I said that, bunnyrip, is because one of our players (a Magnavox) plays -R and +R (booktyped and not) but when I put a DVD+R DL in it .. the darn thing freezes up and I have to turn it off, then press eject with the power off to get it out!

I see! Well, I'll be testing my Player tomorrow. The Interpreter comes out tomorrow. I'm going to get that, make an Exact Back-Up of it on a DVD+RDL. Thanks for the input catfreak! :)

I have burned several verbatim dl's with outstanding success. I however have not done the book type thing to them. they all seem to work perfectly in all the players I have access to. After hearing what everyone else on this thread had to say I may give it a shot though.

travalon, booktype to DVD-ROM makes the media Play better on Standalones. I don't booktype ALL my back-ups, but the DVD+Rs I usually do. It DOES help them play better. DVD-Rs can not be booktyped. Also, some DVD burners are not capable of this. I have 3 LG Multi-Format DVD Writers, 2 of them allow booktype setting, 1 does not. These are all New LG release burners. The DVD RAM type, these Babies Burn ANYTHING! And do it Very Well!
