I've been searching the forum... I've just got to ask!
I just paid for basic limewire on my computer on a college campus. I'm very very frustrated because it does not want to connect due to a firewall. I've tried turning off all firewalls that I can find. Limewire has a terrible terrible support system. I can't seem to get any help from them. I'd love to get my money back, but that doesn't seem to be an option since they don't even have a way for me to contact them. AHHH. Anyways, so I'm still trying to get this program to work. I'd like to get some good out of it for the money. Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks,
Deranda

you need to configure the ports in there. go to limewires help page or forum page. i never paid for my limewire and it works well for me. and i have the basic limewire. did not pay for pro. did you download and pay from their site? and a tip, with limewire, the more you share, the more options you have. it in the tools tab menu, under options. your firewall configurations are in there. also, they are up to 4.9 already in basic.

yeah i would suggest that the college has a seperate firewall for their lan. And its unlikely that you can disable it unless you hack into their system, or maybe ask sum1 to forwards some ports for you.

Deranda,

Dont know why you paid for Limewire Basic? But regardless, at college on a T1 line (2.2 MB/s) on limewire pro i only get like 13-18 KB/s.

FOrget limewire, start using OurTunes, songs take like 4 seconds to download, MAX

http://ourtunes.sourceforge.net/

Thanks for the help everyone. I basically hate LimeWire, I've tried all of their suggestions as far as the firewall configurations go. Oh well. I tried ourtunes but I never get a host. Am I missing something? I don't know what's up with it. I'm not actually in a dorm. It's my computer in my office (I'm a grad student) at the college. I may just be screwed.
Thanks,
Deranda

Ourtunes only works if you are connected to a large LAN.
