I have AnyDVD version 5.4.4.1 and Clone DVD version 2.8.5.1 installed on two of my computers and both are running Windows XP home. My first computer is a Compaq Presario Desktop, 2.8Ghz Intel Celeron Processor, 256 DDR RAM, and a 80 Gigabyte HD. I have used the Sony DRX-510UL (External) on this computer running AnyDVD and Clone DVD2 for about a year to back up my DVD's with no problem. My second computer is new and is a laptop it is a Dell Inspiron XPS-Gen2, Pentium M 770 (2.13GHz/533MHz FSB)80 GB Hard drive and 1GB,DDR2,533MHz 2 Dimm. There are three problems with this one:
1. I installed an External I/O Magic 16x DVD +/-RW / +/-R 2.0 Dual Format (Model#IDVD16DDME)The DVD Writer burned one successful DVD and after that it would only read the DVD, but it would not write to it.
2. Next I installed an External Sony DRX-800UL and it did the same thing.
3. I installed the Sony DRX-510UL and it works then it doesn't work. It will start writing and then I'll get these media write errors. I can burn some DVDs, and some I can't. I can't use the restart feature in the program, I have to close it all the way out restart it before I can burn another DVD so I won't get the write error and sometimes this doesn't work. Everything works fine when I use the Sony DRX-510UL and software with the desktop.
What is the problem with the DVD writers if they rpc2 compared to rpc1? I guess this is a problem with all new DVD writers? Will burners with dual layer capability work with the software? will rpc2 burners work with the software. What is the best burner to use with the software?
I hope you can please give some assistance and let me know what to do?
