I use CLONEDVD2 and burnt Sony -R disks without a problem on a Sony DVR 710a. I recently upgraded to a Sony DVR800A and at first did not have a problem. Then out of the blue my software would not burn -R disks and gave a bad media error. I tried a DVDRW and it burned ok. The next -R disk gave me the same error. I went into Processes on WinXP and stopped all possible conflicts and still had the same error. I tried a DVDRW and it burnt without a problem. Is it a bad batch of Sony -R 8x media or something else?

1st, no problem, then problem...hmmm ding, ding, ding...bad batch! I assume it was -rw that worked after the problem, so yes, bad batch.

Hi there,

Try to burn those SLOW like x2.0 or x4.0 MAX !

They might go better.

Thanks for the feedback. I think it has to be the batch as I have tried slowing from 8x to 4x and it makes no difference.

had excellent success with the 700A until a few days ago when it gave up the ghost. i've now got a Lite-on 1693S (the 800A is the same Lite-on but rebadged as your Sony).

have requested the other thread be closed - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/241817 as it gets confusing having the same problem across mutiple threads

Is your Liteon burning ok. I thought this thread was dead and had not tried the 500A when I posted last week. Sorry.

you're ok, it's not meant to get at you, it just gets confusing and makes us feel deja vu!. too early to tell re my Liteon as i've only used it a couple times but i'm sure my previous drive was the root of my own burning woes lately. by all accounts these are very nice drives, i know my 700A was very good to me.
