I just bought my new seagate 160GB UATA Hdd, and i tried to load 2 different copies of Windows XP Pro, booting from DOS, but i get no boot and i just get "NTLDR is missing: Please reboot etc...." I tried changing my boot sequence to my DVD drive first, and then also using F8 to select boot device, and still the same problem.

I tried again with a Window XP home cd, and it did boot up just fine, but the only problem was that i didnt have the Serial number....

Is this a problem with those two windows xp pro Cds or is it a Hdd error or something else? Any input?

Thanks

Usually the first thing I check when having ntldr issues is the boot.ini. It is a hidden system file. That file specifies where to find the ntrldr file along with the other system files. You should have an entry with the RISC ARC path listed similar to:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Basically that means to check the first disk, first partition for Windows. If it is different from where you installed it, then you get the ntldr can't be found message.
