I want to upgrade my burner. I've been reading the forums and reviews. I found this on the web:
DVD Burner Model DW1640-0C3
BenQ DVD Burner Model DW1640-0C3
Usually Ships:
Same Day
In Stock : Yes
Platform: Universal
Manufacturer: BenQ
Part #: 588170
Mfr.Part #: 9J.B5U15.0C3
Our Price: $39.99

Is it a no brainer if I can get the benq1640 for 39.99 and 2.00 shipping. Or is there a better one out there??

Thanks for the good info. I think I will go that route. In reading some of the reviews you had on your message, it seems like all blank discs are not created equal. So the next question would be: What is the best 16X disc out there?

Verbatim 16x discs burn great on the BenQ

Taiyo Yuden made 8x discs (made in Japan Sony, Fuji) also burn great on it as well as both the Japanese and Taiwanese Maxell 8x

+R seem to scan better than -R discs ...

Also, the BenQ will booktype +R +RW and +R DL

Make sure that you update your firmware and download QSuite

Thanks, I just ordered it. $42.98 with shipping for the 1640. Hopefully I will notice a difference from the 4x that I have now.
