Is there a freeware to burn music to DVD and be able to play on standalone DVD player?

If your dvd player can play mp3s you can. Here's a dvd database that tells what your dvd can play. Put in your make and model, search, and it should say weather mp3s are supported or not.

OK, so I can play MP3's on my DVD player. Is there a freeware that allows you to burn music to DVD?

There's a freeware burning software called DeepBurner...

...but by the looks of your signature, you've burned dvds with something else? There's a good chance you could use that, either burn the mp3s onto a dvd as a data disc, or as an mp3 dvd. I'm not sure of the difference between those two, but I know they both work in most cases. Do you, by chance, have Nero already on your computer?

No, I don't have Nero, but thanks for the info. I will try what I have and see if it will allow me to burn music DVDs. If not, then I'll try DeepBurner. Thanks again!!

you're welcome. I was trying to say before that if you just copy the mp3s to a dvd it might be playable. There also might be a specific task on your software for a dvd with mp3s on it.

I've got a little proggy called Switch. It allows me to change from one format to another. I can then burn with Sonic RecordNow to DVD. I tried it in it's current .wma format, with about 50 songs on a DVD. It only used about .5GB if that and the playback was great on the computer. Now I'm going to change the format to mp3, burn them to DVD with Sonic and play on standalone player. I'll let you know how it goes! Again I appreciate the assistance. Oh, one other thing, do you know what the best bitrate settings are? Specifically, the higher the number the better, correct? Also, the higher the number, the bigger the file? My default is set at Min. bitrate 32kbps Max. bitrate 128kbps and Quality=4. I want to raise the max to 256 and raise the quality to 2. I think I've answered my question but would like your input. Thanks again.

Right.

I like 192kb/s at least. You might be able to add songs to the dvd later, so I don't know how much you care about the file's sizes. The minimum/maximum thing has me confused, but I think that means you're going to record in VBR/variable bitrate**. If I wasn't going to add anymore songs to the disc later, I would probably crank up the bitrate as high as I pleased. With the quality setting, I'd probably keep that cranked up too then start converting and see how slow it all goes. If it went too slow for my taste, I'd probably restart it and lower it so it goes faster.

**VBR (as opposed to CBR)is probably fine. Almost everything plays VBR, but I'm not 100% about dvd players. It's a longshot, but if you look up that dvd player database again, and see if anyone mentions it in the user comments, that might give you a clue - just a precautionary measure.

Yeah, that was all pretty much along my line of thinking. I don't think I'm gonna have any problems and Yes, VBR does, from all accounts, seem to be the way to go, thus maximizing the quality of final product. Thanks again, you really have been a big help!
