Please help me! On the desktop I right-clicked and then clicked on Properties and then on the setup tab for the display settings. Then on the advanced and then on the Monitors tab. There I changed something about the monitors and immediately my monitor display disappeared. Now I cannot see anything and I cannot cancel the changes! What should I do I am helpless and need the computer right now please help me somebody tell me what is going on. I have restarted the computer many times. I hear that it boots up and goes to windows but I cannot see anything.

Do you see anything, before it boots up into Windows? If you can, boot up in safe mode, and restore to an earlier restore setting.

No I don't see anything, absolutely nothing. It is just the monitor which says " Out of range".
As I explained, I simply told the computer to turn off the monitor, without specifying any other output source on which I could see the screen. I am completely confused and hopeles.

@hodab

Your monitor doesn't read any Windows setup until it starts to boot to Windows after doing its preliminary tests so if you are saying that you see absolutely nothing from startup, you have a problem with your monitor.

Try resetting your monitor before you boot up next time.

There is no problem with the monitor, I tried it on another computer and it worked fine. As I wrote, the disaster came as a result of that I changed some settings in the display setup window, as I have described in the beginning of the thread. A friend advised to try anoter video card on the mobo. But the card is PCI and I don't have one to try. He also recommended to reset the bios, but I don't really have an idea how to do that. I tried to remove the battery on the mobo, if that is the way to reset the bios. Please help. I am helpless.

the out of range message you have selected a resolution or refresh rate your monitor can't handle.
start in safe mode and restore it to a lower setting

How can I start in safe mode? I don't see any booting screen or anything else than this "out of range" message. But when it is logged in windows, the messages changes to " log in saving mode" or something like this. But still I cannot see anything and the screen is completely dark.

May be a strange question, but does your monitor have a button for digital or analog input? Mine does, and the only time I got that out of range message is when I accidentally pressed the input button when I was trying to adjust the monitor. The screen went black, but all I had to do was press the input button again, and the monitor came back on.

No, there is not such a button or key. Moreover, the problem is not this. As I have described in the beginning, I have made some changes unwillingly to the display settings, and now I cannot see anything to undo the changes. I just want to undo the change. The problem is how could I see something, just one screen at least. Nothing at all. I am confused.

I would have to guess that your video card may be belly up. No matter what resolution you set it for in Windows, it has no affect whatsoever on the settings when you are going through boot up. If you don't see anything on the screen at boot up, try that card in a different computer and see if the results are the same.

Well, I don't have any mobo on which I could try my PCI video card. But about the change I made, I didn't change the resolution. The problem happened immediately after I chose no-monitor option in the advanced section of display settings.

@hodab

Let me try this one more time. Let's say that you had a brand new Hard Drive and it was formatted without Windows, just the system files. When you turned on your PC, you would see the bios screen at startup, and could go into that bios by either constanly pressing the Delete key, or the F2 key, depending on what your bios required to let you enter it. So even without Windows OS loaded, you would at least see something on your screen. It is the same with your PC now since every machine boots up without entering windows os. If you cannot see anything at boot up then you have a problem with either your graphics card, or your monitor.

You also stated that your monitor doesn't have a button to reset it's main settings. ALL monitors have such a button. Find your manual and reset your monitor first.

It sounds like you may have disabled the original monitor from your original description. Have you tried using a different monitor? If that works then go back through properties and reenable your original monitor.

No, the mobo doesn't have an integrated video. My video card is:
ATI Radeon X600 Pro-4 256 Mb
I Can't find a manual for it online. Maybe I can find some useful information regarding my problem. Do anyone know an address for the manual? I looked at ATI website but I could'nt find it.

It would help a lot if you answer what ScubaBud asks, do you see anything on the monitor as it boots or does it stay blank even when not in windows? Answer this and we can eliminate 50% of the possible problems you may be having :)

well, with the original monitor I couldn't and can't see anything from the time I press the power button, although it goes in Windows as I hear the logging-in sound. But now I have tried to use another monitor; with this one I can see one or two screens from the booting process, but enough to enter the safe mode. With this new monitor It just shows a couple of screens and then goes dard again and nothing at all can be seen. But I can log in Windows with the help of safe mode and only on this new monitor, not on the original monitor on which the problem occured. Now I use the original monitor on another computer and it works fine.
Now, by safe mode, when I am in the Windows environment, I went to the property option and then to display settings, but surprisingly I can't see those options I changed at first and caused the problem. The video card is the same and just the monitor has been replaced.

If you made it into Safe Mode, go to Restore, and restore your computer to a time before you screwed around with the monitor settings!

Thank you, the problem is solved. As Grandpa wrote, I simply restored the computer and everything is working fine now. I love this forum and I love this kind of Internationalism. Long Live Afterdawn.com .

You are welcome, Hodab. I am glad that that worked for you. I just have to ask though. Why on earth did you select No Monitor in your display settings?

To be frank, I just wantet to click on somewhere since my brain was somewhere else. It was just the deep darkness of the monitor which brought me to the world again and realized what disaster I had done! Maybe it has happened the same to you sometimes?
