Alright today i'm running Lord of the rings, thinking i'm going to burn all 3 of them. The first dvd goes smoothly. (The first of the series) so i get to the two towers thinking everything is going to go alright. I first decrypt it (Or try to) using dvd decrypter (latest version) and at around 43% there runs a problem after about 20 retries. It says the following: Check Condition (Or something like that) and that does not work. I then try using dvdshrink and again, that does not work. I know i'm not being real specific here, (Oh and my disc is fine and is not scratched up at all) but i need some advice. Thanks in advance guys.

LOTR: The 2 Towers is nothing special, DVD Decrypter can easily ripp or decrypt without any issue whatsoever.

Just out of curiosity, at what Mode (ISO, Read R or Mode, File F) did you used DVD Decrypter to rip into your hard drive? I strongly recommend using the Mode, File F method better. Do you by any chance have the following in the settings?

at CSS
[tick or check] on Brute Force --> I/O key exchange
On Failure: use key from another file: Yes?

at I/O
[tick or check] on Ignore read errors

at General
[tick or check] on Remove Macrovision Protection
at Removal Method: Aggressive

at ISO Read Mode and File Mode
[tick or check] on all of the Remove Protections

Uasly I use DVD Decrypter in File mode but when I get the error message I switch it to ISO mode and it will rip the ISO I then use ISObuster to extract the Video_ts and Audio_ts folders from the ISO and then convert.

Thats a long way around it but it works for me.

So as what alkohol said try File mode. but if that is waht you are using then try the ISO read mode.

@DVDomnatr,

Yeah, please give us feedback on how you're doing with your backup alright. You should be ok to rip and decrypt any dvd movies (at this moment) using DVD Decrypter with the settings I mentioned above without any issues.

NOTE: for your next (future) dvd burning, please use high quality media such as the famous Taiyo Yuden (genuine Yuden media can be found on the 8X DVD+R Fuji & Sony "Made In Japap"), Verbatim (MCC003 & MCC004), Maxell "Made In Japan", and Ritek.

Yes it worked fine, 100% complete. Yeah when do you think movie companies will catch on that there will be no more updates to DVD Decrypter, and it won't be able to work anymore? Thanks for ur help guys, and yes i will check out dvdfab if i get the time.

p.s. I always use ritek :)

@gear79,

I'm not a professional on DVD Decrypter, but I strongly believe that the File Mode is more safer when ripping movies, not only that but it will handle the encrypted protections better as well. At least to my knowledge, I've "never" had any issues ripping any new movies yet while using Mode, File F.

I highly recommend ripping in "Mode, File F" for 1 or 2 good reasons. Some of the few newer movies, if you ripped using the "ISO" mode, your backup up will end up having 2 - 5 minutes or with a dead blank space in the beginning. However, if you use "File" mode, then the backup will turn out to be exactly like the original without any dead blank.

The "ISO" mode is only good for a 1:1 copy (mainly for ripping and burning to DVD9 aka Dual Layer media, and or ripping and burning PS2 games). With that being said, using the "File" mode, you can simply manipulate and edit the DVD structure by removing certain "titles, subtitles, audio, etc." In addition, when using ISO mode, you're more than likely to get an error when reading or ripping the original disc.

I could be wrong though, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I know that people are entitled to their own judgment, but that is what I prefer and works for me the best.

@DVDomnatr,

You're welcome. It's good to know that it works for you. Ritek is another high quality media so you'll be ok using them. Just a side note here, you should try the famous Taiyo Yuden to see if you'll like them for your future dvd burning. Yuden media is top notch at this moment. Other high quality media are Verbatim, Maxell (Made In Japan), Fuji (only the Made In Japan), and Sony (only the Made In Japan). Both Fuji and Sony "M.I.J" are also Yuden media.

@ alkohol
thansk for the tip, i will give it a whirl later tonight. i just finished backing up 30 movies from this past weekend, every single one was perfect, i did use the ISO rip mode though. but i have done that since i started. i did have a mess up, but that was my own doing, i did cold mountain, and only selected the DTS portion, i messed up somewhere and ended up with video, but no audio. i redid it later on and worked perfectly.

but, its something new for me to try and learn...
thansk again alkohol....

btw, nice image on that disk too.... soon, i will be buying that printer, i just need to convince my wife its a good buy..she thinks all i want it for it to print on media, just cuz it aint got a scanner, she don't like it, but likes the price.. go figure
