I am looking for some help/direction on buring a DL disk using an I/O Magic External 16X DVD ±RW/±R USB 2.0 Dual Format/Double Layer Drive
(IDVD16DDME). I tried to back up the Interpreter using Decrypter and it failed when it came time write the disk. I then tried using Nero 6 to burn the image to disk and it burned up until it was to start the 2nd layer, then failed. I was using TDK DL discs. I thought maybe it was the media, so I returned the TDK's and picked up some Verbatim DL+R's. Before I waste any of the Verbatims, I wanted to see if anyone can offer up some suggestions. I followed the guide on http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/guides.htm for using Decrypter before my attempts. Do I need to do anything special with re: to my Burner? Is my drive a re-baged BenQ? I thought I read that some place. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I have never burned 1 Dual Layer yet, but after reading these forums, let me ask you this:
What's the firmware revision on your burner ?
If you don't have the latest, I would definitly try the latest firmware, and the latest version of DVD Decrypter v3.5.4.0
Maybe your firmware is outdated, and didn't know and/or didn't like those Dual Layer media !
Thanks Cougar, I actually checked on the Firmware, and as you noted - there hasn't been any updates as of yet. I do have the latest version for Decrypter. You may be right, it might just be the drive not liking that media type. I will have to give the Verbatim's a shot and see what happens. Just hate to burn another coaster, especially with a DL. Any other thoughts/suggestions are appreciated.
I've the same problem with DL DVD burning with my Sony DVD DW-D26A Burner.I'm looking for the newest firmware for my drive.
Can you tell me where can I get it???
