So i got tierd of my comp.
P3-1.7Ghz
512 Ram
GeeForce fx5700
80GB Western Digital
no clue about the rest.

So I wanna make a new computer that suits my needs. But the problem is that for the last few years so much had hanged in processors, motherboards and the rest that I am totally clueless as to what is good and what isn't anymore.
If someone could help me out, explain what parts r good, what should I go for I would really appreciate it.

So I wanna go with Pantium but don't know what processor, what is good out there ?
Also motherboard I have no clue about, so I need help on that too.
Ram well Ram is cheap but I heard that there's different kinds that some r really expensive but machines fly with them :)
Video Card, well I would like to stick with Geeforce or Ati
And last but not least Hard Drive, they r not that expensive either.

I would use the comp for games mostly and watching movies and photochopping. A lot of programs running at once so I need something fast

Go pick up a copy of MaximumPC. They Had an issue a month or two ago that gave you a parts list with 3-4 options for each part based on price and performance...very good article.

or check out the web site:

Extreme Tech is published by the CNET folks and their web site has a "Build It" section, check it out.

http://www.extremetech.com/category2/0,1695,644478,00.asp

The best performance these days comes with AMD 64 chips, 80-90% of all new builds use them. The newest Pentium chips use over 200 watts just for the chip, more than twice AMD's usage, so the Pentium's generate mucho heat, and aren't suited for oc'ing.

I've never understood why anyone would overclock? Improve your speed only slightly and take years off your comp's life? It's isn't even. And you have to buy extra fans to keep from overheating?

People overclock to see how far they can push their PCs on benchmarking progs. It's all about numbers, plain & simple.
