I am looking for a piece of free (non-demo or shareware) software that will allow me to catalog my CD's and MP3 files. I would need to be able to use this database to search for artists and song titles. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you very much!!!

Do you mean like a media player? If so, there are loads

winamp http://www.winamp.com/player/
i-tunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
real player http://forms.real.com/netzip/intl/intl_getrde601.html?lang=en&h=s...
windows media player 10 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/default.aspx

just to name a few.

each one has a search feature and supports video playback.

Good Luck.

No, I'm thinking about more of a database program that will search for my music files and will let me search for them. (I already have a media player!) I would also like to be able to catalog my CD's. Any ideas? Thank you for your responses!

download the dynamic library plugin for winamp 5. you can find it at the plugins section of winamp.com. it is free, easy to use, and one of the best catalogers I've found.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

I was hoping that bradcote meant a music catalog program that would catalog all of a person's homemade cd's that they were burning to a hard drive, so as to keep track of them for when it's time to make a cd to listen to in a person vehicle, if you know what I mean. Does anyone know of a good program for that purpose.
Thank you very much,
