i figured this would be the right forum to post (o_O)

I have a nVidia GeForce4 MX 420 in my standard HP 724a with 512MB RAM and 2.4GHz P4 Processor.
I am wondering if there is a way to emulate a 128MB graphics memory (possibly through a section of the HD) instead of my actual 64MB Graphics Memory

I want to do this because i have a game (Battlefield 2) that i bought and my video card is not supported (but i dont want to return it so i can keep it if my system is upgraded in the near future)... There is a lack of video memory...

PS: i am keeping the game because it looks to be one of the greatest FPS i have seen...

Please post your suggestions AND/OR what you think of Battlefield 2...

tanx in advance (o_O)

what your asking is not possible. if you want to play BF2, your going to need a new vid card sadly.

this is a list of the officially supported graphics cards

Radeon X700 (PCIe)
Radeon X600 (PCIe)
GeForce 6600 (PCIe)
GeForce PCX 5900 (PCIe)
GeForce 5800 Series (AGP)
ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition
ATI Radeon X800 PRO
ATI Radeon 9800 Series
ATI Radeon 9600 Series
ATI Radeon 9550 (RV350LX)
ATI Radeon 9500 / 9700 Series
ATI Radeon 8500 Series
ATI Radeon X300 Series
NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra
NVidia GeForce 6800 GT
NVidia GeForce 6800
NVidia GeForce FX 5950 Series
NVidia GeForce FX 5900 Series
NVidia GeForce FX 5700 Series

however, i did read up somewhere that there are hacks that enable it to play on a GeForce4, but the prob with that is, the online system detects the hack as a cheat and bans you from playing.

it's a really good game :) but you are gonna have to get a better nvidia card the fx5900xt is quite cheap and will run it
so it shouldn't hurt the pocket too much

i7 3770 12GB ram terrabyte sata drive 1 750Gb sata drive 285GTX graphics Sony dvdwriter same NZXT Nemesis case
Still playing Black Hawk Down why did I upgrade?

The reason your card will not play it is not to do with the ammount of texture memory, but it is to do with the fact that your card does not have DirectX 9 support which is used a lot in this game.

As gozilla says there is a fix but then you will not be able to play online. And as the fix removes all the directx 9 stuff your game will look worse than battlefield 1942 on low details :)

Either way there is no way possible to emulate texture memory by using the hd or system ram, not that I have ever heard of anyway.

yeah i know but i cant afford it...

can you tell me where to find the hack Gozilla, i am not planning on playing online and i am pretty sure that the only thing enabling it to be detected as a cheat would be puk-buster software which i usually disable anyway...

so please reply
