Hi all,

Im getting a computer with this mother board

I have an opportunity to get a 80 gig harddrive cheaply, but its IDE and this motherboard takes a serial ata.
Can an IDE hard drive plug into a motherboard that takes sata? Will I need an extra cable or something?

you need an ata controller card.. pci controller card...

sata is different from ata..

how much are you getting the hd for? you can get a 250gb sata hd for about $100.

neither 1 of you looked at the specs or the picture of the motherboard as it has 2 onboard ide controllers plus the sata connectors. http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?MenuID=...
2 x IDE connectors
2 x Serial ATA connectors
