No good to me as i need to fit the 2 avi's together as one and get the VOB files so i can burn to dvd.

May have to convert one at a time and see if i can fit the vob's with shrink.

M8 did the 2 avi files at the same time with vso and that part went ok,
only the finished ts_folder comes up when trying to play in powerdvd 5 saying at the start of the film powerdvd as caused an error in the unknown but the film still is playing from the begining under the windows pop up and when i hit the x to get rid of the pop up powerdvd shuts down.
Nero will burn the vob's ok only when burnt to dvd+rw it only plays from the end of the film in file formatt in powerdvd.
This is what i have in the video ts_folder, 10 files =
video_ts.bup
video_ts.ifo
vts_01_0.bup
vts_01_0.ifo
vts_02_0.bup
vts_01_1
vts_01_2
vts_02_0.ifo
vts_02_1
vts_02_2

? is this right as it looks as somert is rong to me.

Cheers for any help on this.

Sorry can get the film to play from the start off the hard drive in powerdvd but still get the error and it says formatt is angle 1/angle 1.

If VSO converts successfully, the outputs should be fine. But just to make sure, try play the 'video_ts.ifo' file with PowerDVD or Nero Show Time to see if it's o.k..

Good luck!

Nero sometimes do this when it doesn't integrate well with the codecs. If the converted movie plays fine before the final burning, you may try use another program for the final burning. Here are some free tools:

The problem is after the convet m8 as the 2 AVI file's are ok when i downloaded them in the sound. It may be because i have converted the 2 avi's at the same time in vso to VOB, got to be somert to do with that, first part of the film is crap m8 all you can hear is hissing and the second part is magic.
It is the same in powerdvd first part hissing second part film ok in the sound. This is the conveted vob's i dun off the pc hard drive.
The ardio in the first part of the AVI most be different to the second AVI that i converted to vob's.
I dont think im going to download to parts again as the out come is crap may look at converting one at a time and then putting it into shrink.

Try this :

Tools: VirtualDub or VirtualDub MP3 Freeze or Nandub or if joining/cutting ASF use VirtualDub 1.3c and the ASF Codecs ( MP43 (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 V3).

How to Cut a DivX/AVI file

This guide explains how to cut a DivX, XviD, ASF or an AVI without reconverting it. It will only take a few minutes to split a DivX/AVI. It works fine to cut a DivX, XviD with AC3 audio also.

Install and start VirtualDub (extract all files to a folder and run the VirtualDub.exe file).
Open the video, File->Open video file

If a window popups and says that VBR audio stream detected you must use VirtualDub MP3 Freeze or Nandub or you will get audio sync problem. Install VirtualDub MP3 Freeze/Nandub and follow these steps again. If you don't get this message you can continue with this guide.

Select under Audio->Direct Stream Copy.
Select also under Video->Direct Stream Copy.
Select the first part by(see image below):
1. Drag the bar to the start
2. Select Start
3. Drag the bar to the end
4. Select End
Last save the the new clip with File->Save as AVI. It will only take some few minutes to cut the DivX/AVI.
When it is done select the other part of the video the same way and save it as new file.

How to Join DivX/AVI files

Note! The videoclips must have same resolution, bitrates, codecs and so or else it wont work. It will only take a few minutes to merge DivX/AVI files, no reencoding required.

Install and start VirtualDub (extract all files to a folder and run the VirtualDub.exe file).
Open the first videoclip, File->Open video file

If a window popups and says that VBR audio stream detected you must use VirtualDub MP3 Freeze or you will get audio sync problem. Install VirtualDub MP3 Freeze and follow these steps again. If you don't get this message you can continue with this guide.

Select File->Append Video Segment to open and add other videoclips. Repeat this step until you have add all you videoclips.
Select under Audio->Direct Stream Copy.
Select also under Video->Direct Stream Copy.
Lasthit File->Save AVI and save the new joined movieclip.

Problems
I can't open ASF files. Be sure to use VirtualDub 1.3c cause newer versions of VirtualDub do not support ASF and be sure to install the ASF Codecs ( MP43 (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 V3).

If a window popups and says that VBR audio stream detected you must use VirtualDub MP3 Freeze or Nandub or you will get audio sync problem. Install VirtualDub MP3 Freeze/Nandub and follow these steps again. If you don't get this message you can continue with this guide.

After joining the 2 clips , I use TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 to convert it to a " High Quality " mpeg. Then I use TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 . Definitely use the guides here at AD to use TMPG.

If you suspect the problem has something to do with converting 2 avis in one instance, you may try convert the two avis separately, then reauthor with Shrink to burn as one dvd.

Good luck!

Suppose you want to burn two full dvds (i.e. with video_ts folders) to one dvd:

1) Copy both dvds to harddisk, each under a separate folder (e.g. movie 1, movie 2)

2) Run Shrink, select 'reauthor', then go highlight each video_ts folder, add the various 'titles' to the compilation window, adjust 'compression settings' if necessary, then burn with e.g. Nero.

Yes, just follow the procedures I described. After you've added the 'titles' to the compilation window, you can check 'compression settings' to see the compression ratio automatically set by Shrink. You can then adjust the compression ratios for each title, if you like. 10-20% compression would not affect quality significantly.

I did have a go with VirtualDub,but it wouldent work on my pc come up saying that i dant have the right codecs in my pc for it to work. someone said put k-lite codecs pack in i think thats whot its called. Only i have some codecs in allready and the last time i was looking & installing some to find one's that works it messed me pc up big time, think i ended up formating the pc as well.
Ill have a go as scf_au as said with shrink as it sounds easyer for me to do.

Cheers.

hollafam, SWINGTIP :

There is a prcedure to follow:

FIRST : You have to convert the .AVI , MPEG ,etc files to a DVD compatible format. You can do this by using TMPGEnc or Nero or VSO. There are other pieces of software, but you get the point. Use the software to convert the AVI to DVD compatible files.

SECOND : After you get done converting the files. Using whatever software you like and that works best for you. You need to burn the files with Nero or Sonic or Roxio.

VSO is a transcoder or converts the files.

DVD Shrink is a ripper. It removes the copyguard on commercial DVD`s and then can compress or SHRINK the movie so it will fit on a 4.7 GB disc. [ Most commercial DVD`s are 6,7 or 8 GB`s ] Then you use Nero, Roxio etc to burn the DVD Shrunk files to a blank disc. DVD Shrink has other uses , but it mainly used for copying commercial DVD`s

Readers Digest version:

Open Shrink . Click on REAUTHOR. Browse to where your files are. Drag them from the window on the right to the window on the left.
