hi

well first of all, i am not that much smart. :P

i am trying to use Azureus but it always gives my yelow face, i tried testing port and it gave NAT ERROR. i have tried almost all the other clients and they all have the same problem.
i googled alot.. and when i say ALOT, i mean ALOTT.
all the results i get are either about port forwarding to routers or something that i have already done withot any success.
i dont have any router whatsoever.

to give you a brief idea.
i am using a cabe net. i went to the isp, paid them, they came my home, installed a LAN card (i think thats what it is, its like a modem) and connected a cable to it. set up my connection. it was two years ago. i have the same service. the ISP guys are kind of smart a$$ and its the only cable service in my area.they have all these idiotic restriction like you cant download anything betwen 9pm-1am.... this sort of stuff. they are kind of rude too. i mean you cant argue with them, they simply say "sir, if you dont like our service, you can unsubscribe anytime"..... &@#^

anyway,

my ip is 192.168.1.161
i set Azureus to use por 16881 (as read on other forums)
opened ports 16881-16999 on my windows XP firewall. both TCP and UDP.

the torrent is quite healthy... it has more than 400 peers and 200 seeds.

i have windows XP sevice pack 1

please feel free to ask me whatever you may think is required..
Thank you.
i hope to see replies soon with alot of help.. ;) :D

Thank you very much for replying Dvdback23... it was really kind of you.
And I have to say that those are two really informative guides. Great work.

But, as the guide says Router, i dont know what exactly is a router.

i suppose its a device which i dont have. all i have is LAN card, just like a modem connected in my computer and a cable is plugged in.

i tried typing the ip adress in the browser and nothing happened for a few seconds and at last, msn search opened and searched web for the ip address.

then as suggested in the guide, i ran the test for ports 6881-6889 on Shields Up.

here are the results.

Port Status Protocol and Application

6881 Stealth Unknown Protocol for this port
Unknown Application for this port

ok... so the status for all the ports tested is Stealth so is the Protocol and Application except for the port 6888 which is 'Muse'.

So what do you suggest now?

Please let me know. i am sure someone here must know about this.
Thanks.

Hi,

Can you tell me exactly what kind of speeds you have and what you are getting on your torrents?
Yeah, and if you dont know what a router is, you probably dont have one ;)

thanks.

hehe... i guess i dont then.. ;)

well when downloading files through mIRC, i usually get (if its not rush hour) around 20 kbs/s. and with torrents, i get around 5 kbs/s and sometimes, it rarely reaches above 10 but eventually goes back to 4 or 5 or 6. no matter how good the torrent is. infact the other people downloading have said they get above 70 on the same torrent.

i should mention that there was a time many months ago when for two days it worked fine. i mean the faces were green and the speed was excellent even thought the torrent didnt have that many seeds. but after two days of my joy, it ended and got back to yellow and slow speeds.

i really appreciate you Dvdback23 for replying and looking into the matter.

Thank you very much.
please let me know if theres something you can do.

So I can know your max speeds if you are in the US post the results to this speedtest http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ (remember to pick the closest city to yourself) and if you are outside the US go to http://broadbandreports.com and then go to speed tests.

Also have you followed every step of my BitComet guide?

HI Dvdback23,
well i tested the shuttle one from Toast.net and got this:
33.6K Modem: 34-54K
56K Modem: 70-90K
ISDN/I-DSL: 220-260K

i am completely lost. lol..

and about your guide. well i did as much as i could for Azureus.
Do you think BitComet is better? should i use is instead? and also, the main purpose for using Azureus is that it does a really good job banning those who send bad data. i dont know if others could do it too. if i use bitcomet, will it kick the peers who send bad data? i tried ABC it was really good first but then it got so slow for me.

what else you suggest i should do?

I would suggest BitComet over Azareus, because i dont like the resources that it takes up. Unfortunately, BC doesnt have the option to kick users who send data that fails the hash checks, but i have never really had that big of a problem with those types of users when i download from torrent leech.

Even I dont understand that test ;)

As I said in the PM, just tell me the country and i will find you an accurate speed test.

Good luck!

well i did try BitComet. pretty nice guide and software too.

i couldnt complete the TWEAK because it kept saying downloading file, i kept it for about an hour but it still doesnt work for me. the rest was fine.

i got the upload speed upto 15 kbs/s but download once again not more than 7 kbs and 360 kbs of trash data in 1 mb downloaded file (total size of the file is 349 mb)

i hope i did everything i could.

:)

so what now?
