hi,
I just doubled my memory to 256mb but when I checked under system properties it says I only have 192mb. I checked using a program called Everest Home Edition which does confirm that the new stick is 128mb.

However, the memory slots under the heading 'chipset' report the following:-

Dimm Slot 1 - 128mb
Dimm Slot 2 - 64mb (new memory)

I will cut and paste the full SPD and Chipset data if that would help anyone.

I am very new to anything hardware related. Infact, this is the first time I have opened up the pc so there might be something obvious which I may have overlooked.

Thanks.

try reseating the new stick of ram to make certain is seated properly. try switching the sticks around to see if the problem follows new stick or not. possibility motherboard can't read properly single sided ram so reads half value

I've been doing some reaserch and it seems that the new memory might be high density, which my motherboard can't read fully. I will give your suggestions a try though.

Is Low Profile memory the same as Low Density memory?

depends on how the word profile is used as in height or what.

CruzDavid, more than likely the ram is incompatible with the motherboard as i have a customer with the same problem
