DVDBack23 - i have read your helpful tips on BitComet, but in step 6)
"6) Run this test and follow all the steps it tells you to GREATLY improve your cable/dsl connection.
http://www.broadbandreports.com/tweaks
Under advertised speed, use the max speed you got after taking the speed test"
I have done the test then a results page came up, but i dont know what im supposed to be looking at? Or what am i supposed to be doing with the results? Here's the results page i got, if you could tell me what to do next it would be well appreciated.

1. Your Tweakable Settings:
Receive Window (RWIN): 17520
Window Scaling: off
Path MTU Discovery: ON
RFC1323 Window Scaling: OFF
RFC1323 Time Stamping: OFF
Selective Acks: ON
MSS requested: 1460
TTL:
(less any hops behind firewall)
131
TTL remaining: 119
TOS/TOS subfield: 0
TOS/Flags:

2. Test 1024001 byte download
Actual data bytes sent: 1026921
Actual data packets: 705
Max packet sent (MTU): 1500
Max packet recd (MTU): 1500
Retransmitted data packets: 2
sacks you sent: 22
pushed data pkts: 149
data transmit time: 9.500 secs
our max idletime: 235.2 ms
transfer rate: 102226 bytes/sec
transfer rate: 817 kbits/sec
This is not a speed test!
transfer efficiency: 99%

3. ICMP (ping) check
Minimum ping: 84.81 ms
Maximum ping: 124.47 ms
Ping stability:
96.93 85.90 88.39 84.81 86.55 86.93 124.47 88.33 86.00 86.02

If you dont know how to...
Open the screen you want the screenshot of.
Press Alt+ Prnt Scrn
Paste in Paint
Save as JPEG
Upload to http://imageshack.us
Add the "direct link url" to your post using the tags [img] etc..

Ok, im gueesing your on a 1 mbit like so the speed test looks accurate. The RWIN test is good too, so no need to change anything.

Advice: Move on to the next step of the guide!

Enjoy!

I've done everything you have said (that i can do - not behind a router) and it has gone up...but only to an average of around 30kb/s nothing like your 380? Anything else you can suggest?

Hey I'm also having slow bitcomet problems. I'm averaging 9kb/s which I know is very low for my Comcast Cable internet. I've tried your guide but my bitcomet downloads have not sped up. Please help ;)

I'm using a Desktop Computer Windows XP Professional
Pentium 4
2.4ghz
512 MB RAM
50+ remaining GB's of memory

Heres my speed test:
Last Result:

Download Speed: 6042 kbps (755.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 284 kbps (35.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

And here my tweak test results:
1. Your Tweakable Settings:
Receive Window (RWIN): 256960
Window Scaling: 2
Path MTU Discovery: ON
RFC1323 Window Scaling: ON
RFC1323 Time Stamping: OFF
Selective Acks: ON
MSS requested: 1460
TTL: unknown
TTL remaining: 115
TOS/TOS subfield: 0
TOS/Flags:

2. Test 1024001 byte download
Actual data bytes sent: 1024001
Actual data packets: 703
Max packet sent (MTU): 1500
Max packet recd (MTU): 1500
Retransmitted data packets: 0
sacks you sent: 0
pushed data pkts: 84
data transmit time: 4.095 secs
our max idletime: 2522.6 ms
transfer rate: 229118 bytes/sec
transfer rate: 1832 kbits/sec
This is not a speed test!
transfer efficiency: 100%

3. ICMP (ping) check
Target unpingable

Notes and recommendations:
Choose RWIN between 56940 and 151840 (FAQ #586)
download/use DRTCP .. (FAQ #578)
Read the tweak FAQ

Notes and recommendations:
Good data stream (no/few rexmits)
2+ second stall detected (FAQ #1606)

Notes and recommendations:
Become pingable
if you need basic packet loss tests done
Check tweak FAQ

If you can help me with this that would be much appreciated. Hope to see your post soon :)

So you are wondering why your download speeds using BitComet are poor. Boot up BitComet then click the Statistics Tab. Compare your Total Uploaded amount to your Total Downloaded amount, I'll bet you've downloaded far more than you've uploaded.

Building up a good Upload to Download ratio seems to work as a credit in your favour so forget about accelerators or tweaks and do as you're supposed to do, share!

Only stop uploading when your U/D ratio is at least 1.5, you'll soon build up 'credit'.

Well thanks again but u already posted that. BTW I dont suggest anyone to crank up their settings that high. U have settings like "maximum upload rate per task: 1491202 KB/s ". Ur only able to d/l and u/l what ur isp lets u, so setting a upload rate of over million isnt going to help, its actually going to slow them down. Same for ur d/l.

No sig for u!.
