LG-4167B Help plz guys!!

Okay so i purchased the 4167b and stuck it in my comp. It reads pretty much everything i put in EXCEPT blank dvd media. When i stick a dvd-r in (ive tried 2 different brands) it just tries to read then says no disc. Now the weird thing.

Before i went to RMA it i tried the drive in my Family computer. Works perfectly... Reads the Dvd-r blank media perfect (both brands)

Anyone heard anything like this and know why my comp wont read the blank media?? seems awfully weird. (both winxp sp2)

that is wierd. i've just bought one of theseand it's a fantastic drive. could be it just doesn't like that media.

try downloading dvd identifier (free) - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id... and use it to 'identify' one of those discs and paste results here..

could be from sumthing with ur software (drivers)... other than that i can't think of anything... but i too have a problem with an identical drive... technically it writes at 8x but i dunno why since 2 days ago it only writes at 4 and below... i suspect its a system registry/driver thing... cuz i used a registry cleaner and it busted sum files, among those were some Nero files... i'll have to do a system restore i guess... but anyways...try re-installing the drivers... or installing Nero burning rom (if that's not the case already)... tell me if it helps
