When i first backed up the disk it played fine in my dvd player now it wil not play. Please can some one tell me how to recover the dvd film files from the disc. WHEN DVD DECRYPTOR TRYS TO COPY IT IT SAYS THERE WAS A READ ERROR.

I think think is really the same question you asked in the other thread. If not, my apology. Try cleaning the disk. I use eyeglass cleaner and wipe from the center out. Otherwise if there is a big scratch or disk imperfection, you're probably out of luck. You might try ISOBuster.

I'm not really familiar with the brand of media you stated. If it's crappy quality media, this type of problem can be expected to reoccur.

Seems to me that if you really 'backed' your disc up and wern't involved in piracy, all you have to do is make another copy of the original

It's definately a media problem.... in the future try better media... the cost is almost the same as bad media and the rewards are soooooooo much better........ you won't go through what you are going through now (unable to read your disk!). here is a link to a media guide: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
I use Taiyo Yuden (you can get them online through supermediastore.com or meritline.com and other sites), Verbatum, Maxell, Sony are among the top brands (usually made in Japan or Taiwan are the better manufactured disks).

now your prob...... Laddyboy is right..... try cleaning the disk off as best as possible. Eyeglass cleaning, Jewelry cleaning is also good, I even read that for deep scratchs you can use Brasso (copper cleaner) but you have to wash it clean with water and a soft cloth (terri cloth is good for that). If you still can't get DVDDecryter to read the files try setting the program to BRUTE FORCE (the CSS tab) in the SETTINGS under TOOLS. If that still doesn't work..... then you know it's just bad media and you'll have to chalk it up to experience and next time use better media!

GOOD LUCK....and hope this helps a little.
