I need some serious help with port forwarding

like the topic title suggests, i need help with port frowarding.

I know the task is quite simple, but apparently i did it incorrectly. I though i was doing it right for the last couple of weeks, but i just checked with Shields up! and apparently my ports are still all Stealth.

Here are the steps that i did:

1)First i made myself a static Ip....i'm assuming the problem can't be here since i can connect to the internet and do anything on the internet fine

2) after that, i went into the advanced properties of my LAN,looked at advanced settings of windows firewall(which is supposedly disabled anyway), and let it accept Bitlord through port 65535

3) Then i forwarded my ports. My modem is a siemens speedstreem 6520. When i go to it's adress, the screen i get is provided by my ISP(ie, there's no siemens logo or anything related to siemens on the page. Just bell) which is bell. I figure this is normal,so i check my advance options, then applications, then i select settings, the port mapping. I enter all of the values i need, and i get this.



4) after that i allow Bitlord and Bittornado to use these ports through Sygate Firewall. I do it manually so i can enter the ports i want for them. After a bit i completely disable the firewall, and still my ports aren't open.


So this might be a bit involved, but i don't know what to try next. I'm almost certain the problem is that my ports aren't open, since that's the message i got from shields up! The problem is that i've tried all i can read about the subject and i can't seem to find the problem. It might be right infront of me and i can't see it, so hopefully someone can clarify it.

EDIT: Ok, i looked at my log in Sygate personal firewall and found that it detected that Shields up! was scanning the ports. I don't think it gave any indication that it gave them a signal that the ports were closed...

You need to open the port in Windows...the is a tutorial in my sig with screenshots that should hel you through the process.

I don't see the point at all of you leading me to that thread.

I already read that thread and followed it step by step. The whole reason i made this topic is because i don't know the problem.

I appreciate you trying to help, but i didn't write all of the details of what i did so you can link me to a thread. Unless the thread had something i didn't already know.

Please read my whole post before you post.

Obviously, something you did went wrong. Like I said, I didn't know you had read the tutorial I linked you to. I just know that it has helped quite a few people and I figured by linking you to it, you my resolve your problem as well. Ormaybe you even missed a step, YA KNOW, being human and all.

Maybe this is a shock to you but in trying to get help from someone shooting down their first attempt (AT TROUBLESHOOTING) isn't the best way to keep receiving help and get your issue(s) solved.

Fluper,

What seems to be the problem?? Are you having slow torrent downloads?? And yes, i did read your WHOLE post.

alright, i realize i was a bit extreme in my last post. but hey,so were you.

anyway,sorry about it, and if you don't want to help anymore i understand.

I was just a bit pissed that after a day of this thread floating around i got linked to something i already did.

anyway, i actually did re-read the thread, and found nothing that i'd done wrong. That's the whole reason i made this thread, i don't know what's wrong.

Anyway @DVDBACK23, yes the problem is that my torrents are slow.
