Hello,

I record music videos with my DVD recorder. After trying many diffrent options I think I just want to "extract" the videos I want from say, a 1 hour recording.

I tried DVD shrink and it works, but there are 2 problems:

1- Splitting isn't precise, the smallest increment is 15 frames back and forth. I want to split the files to the closest frame (like the precision that can be obtained from VirtualDub)

2- DVD Shrink creates Ifo files, and the resulting video is a VOB file. That doesn't bother me, but is there a way to have an MPEG2 stream (*.mpeg or *.mpg)?

I look VERY forward to hearing from you.

Actually, I think I've solved my problem. I own Nero Ultra edition and used the NeroVision program to import and edit the recorded DVD. With SmartEncoding enabled, it only transcodes the segments of video that aren't DVD compliant. When you go to the end of the project you have the SmartEncode Ratio.

I've just tried it and had a ratio of 96.5%. It took about 45secs. to transcode the video and then burnt it on to DVD.

So if anybody has Nero and doesn't mind living with VOBs' this is your tool.
